Both Advance Auto and Autozone sell radiators for 99.00 bucks for a 92 MTX. This would be for Ashley's 3.2 MTX. It's a Daily driven, non tracked car. Has anyone had any experiences with the cheap store-bought units? Do they hold up ok?

Carquest usually has great prices on radiators too. Got one for my Blazer - it was like 100 bucks.

You should be fine with a regular duty car. Haven't heard of unusual failures from these and have used them in the past with no ill effects.

You can save a few more dollars purchasing online, but you want an easy return policy and quick turn around for another unit if you ever get a faulty one. I did the Rock Auto shuffle with suspension parts one year and it delayed getting stuff done (I have virtually no free time to get a crack at stuff) and ate up any savings with return shipping. The savings has to be substantial for me to buy stuff online.

I got one form eBay last year for like 40 bucks. Probably the same one the stores sell. Tighten the crimps on the end tanks and you shouldn't have a problem. Mines been fine.

I bought mine from NAPA because IIRC the warranty was very good. They are all about the same, so buy the one with the best price and warranty.

Gary, is this a proper dual core radiator? I'm already stoked that it doesn't have the crap ass plastic tanks that leak after a few years, but if it's also a legit dual core...

I owe you a(nother) beer.
They used to have a thick core version of the Taurus radiator, but I think they dropped it from their lineup about a year ago. You can email or call them, I think the core is standard thickness, which would probably be OK for anything but the most modified SHO's found here.

Shenanigans.

I track my car in the summer... this year saw coolant temps of 250º. I definitely need more radiator.

I'll call them, hopefully they come back with some good news.

Don't feel bad, mine is too, in the same spot. It'll leak out about a pint before the thermostat opens up and thermal expansion seals everything up again.

I think some of the the big chains carry a lifetime warrantee on their rads. which is nice if something happens and you need a quick replacement.

Sir, Thanks! Been looking up and down for something like this... been tinkering around try to trim fit the Jeg's universal alum radiator chevy style hose placement #555-52000 as its close in dimension as stock style, had to fabricate mount and trim some radiator support to clear it.

That Genesis alum apparently same as stock in dimension, that will work for DD. I think will keep Jeg's for its heavy duty turbo usage.

As for Advance auto radiator, I had to replace them twice due to junk plastic ends leaking but with warranty... crimped the ends helps in awhile. I came across heavy duty two row core from advance auto after it leaked twice. They replaced and let me go with heavy duty without any difference. Crimped ends and been 3 years now.

I'm on my second spectra premium brand radiator. Old one lasted 1 year, maybe less. The original factory rad rotted out and had physical damage, so I bought a replacement. Then once it got cold out the end tanks started leaking where they are crimped on. So. had to buy spectra premium rad #2. Yes, the coolant was properly mixed 60/40 (glycol water).

Worst part was I threw away my receipt, so I couldn't get it warrantied. Had to spend another $200 or so. I tried to fix it by resealing it, but failed miserably. On the bright side, I'm a pro at changing rad's in this car now.

Crap this credit card keeps falling outta my pocket on the keyboard here... lol $120 huh... thats pretty damn sexy for $120...

Tanks look a bit larger too... are those two fittings plugs on there? I would assume you could just find tap plugs for those?
