How much better can the car get with slicks and a quaife? I'm assuming the top ten quickest had these mods or not?

The Quaife will not improve anything. With slicks and good driving, realistically you're looking at 2.1's.

I don't even think it takes slicks to get a 2.1 60'. Nick was able to get 2.0 60' times in his Turbo 1990 on nitto NT555R street tires (Not the Drag radials and with no Quaife). On my Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1's, I was able to get a 2.1 60'.

I think it Just takes a GOOD street tire and and paitence. I was literaly just popping the clutch (Releasing it quickly and smoothly) and pressing on the gas peddle gradually until I was WOT, Like you would if you wanted to Jump out ahead of somebody at a street light without spinning the tires. This netted me my best 60' times as opposed to holding the RPM's at a certain level and then slipping the clutch.

The Gen III Subframe in my opinion REALLY helped. I had NO Wheel hop this time. Last time on the stock subframe I had pretty nasty wheel hop.

My car na pulled consistent 2.1 with street tires. All seasons too. But that was the driver. Full slicks it did 2.0 but the clutch couldn't take more aggressive launches. ( cm 1 ) it had potential too get better 60s but the clutch is still good so I'm not changing till it dies or the tranny comes out.

Let me know when you run 13's in Denver with your current setup. I'll give $2,000.

Idk I have yet to break any axles and I've ran the car down the track many times. ldk
and I've lauched it pretty ******* the hoosiers too. I think the clutch and the driver play the biggest factor. I think my clutch slips just enough to save the axle but hinders better times

Offer still stands.

I'll add to that... I'll give you $2k if you can run a 14.4 @ 108+ in Denver with your secondaries unplugged.

And you did not ansewer the question.

What does that have to do with anything? Are you saying your car could not go any faster then a 14.4 in Denver because of the elevation?

Can I play too? :)
Btw I just noticed I was .8 mph slower than U and it was hot. No charge cooling unlike u ( if u had the water inj then. :)

I think we both know that my car could have gone faster. I just didn't think I needed to mention that the secondaries we unplugged and I had an electrical short ;)

But if Mr. Traction can do better at altitude, then it wil be out of my wallet.

Water injection was not used. Please, by all means, make a trip to Bandimere, you won't run as fast, but I think you'll be surprised.. Like most that haven't play at altitude.

I never said I could do better at Altitude. Regardless, Altitude has nothing to do with getting traction. Not to mention, with the kind of power your car is making the secondaries being stuck open should have had hardly any effect on power. I know I hardly noticed it when they were stuck open on my near stock 89.

I'm not trying to be a dick head here, I'm just saying that for everything that I do not know about these cars (and THERE IS A LOT I Don't know), not knowing how to drag race them is not of them and I will defend and brag about that to no end if I have too.

Ask Terry for our comparison dyno. He had functiong secondaries, I did not. I'd say there was a huge difference below 4k RPM. When I plugged them, I went from bogging to 4k to ripping them loose at about any RPM. If you fully understood how centrifugal blowers worked, you wouldn't have made the above post. I believe there is a good thread on secondaries and boost on this very board.

If you're factoring power into the traction equation, I'd say altitude has a small part.

I can agree with that. Check... Inconsistant times equal the 1337 SHO drag racer.

So I made four runs. One without the Nitrous, The 3 others with the Nitrous.

My first run of the night, on a Cold (I was the second car to run) un prepped track (No VHT layed down or brushes ran over the track yet), off the nitrous, I run a 14.6.

My 2nd run I run the car for the first time ever on Nitrous at the strip, Nail down a 2.3 60' and run a 13.9.

My 3rd Run I nail a 2.1 60' down and run a 8.80 in the 1/8th, then let off after the 1/8th due to technical diffculties.

My 4th run I run another 2.1 60', Run a 8.90 in the 1/8th and finish with a 13.6.

Yea, I'm real inconsistant!

To the OP... Again, Don't listen to me. I don't have a damn clue! Buy a STI, Park your SHO and never drive it and become l33t among the car community! ;)
