Got the crank pulley removed. It's not as warm as yesterday, so I am warming up grabbing some lunch. The sensor is supposed to be out for delivery, so I expect it in the next hour. Are you guys able to move to rotating assembly with the timing belt? I will get this sensor removed, so I can test along side the new one, and hopefully give a thorough inspection, and start reassembly. I felt that the crankshaft pulley only needed to pull a little bit, until it was loose? Is this common? When I pulled the one on my truck, it seems like it might of tried to fight me most of the way off the shaft. But, that was a harmonic balancer, the pulley is separate. The previous owner did state he was in there replacing the sensor?

Ok, I got the old senor out, and it was most definitely the issue, or at least an issue. He put it on backward, first rotation broke it. I seen some broke plastic in the timing cover, so I knew it had broke, plus I didn't think it went on with the wires towards the fender? My other sensor is in, so I will head out later, and try to get it back together. FYI, he did have the correct sensor!! I will let you know if it starts after I get her back together!!

The bottom timing cover also had a little oil in the bottom of it, dies that mean the crank seal is leaking?

make sure to properly gap it and use both stainless steel screws to hold it in place

Yeah, I was just getting ready to ask about this, it seems like no matter what I do, the sensor screws are at the bottom part of the adjustment?

You possibly may need a new sensor metal tone wheel if it was damaged. They have to be near perfect. When the sensor is gapped turn over by hand to ensure it doesn’t contact the new crank sensor.

Lol, yeah, I likely should, I turned it quite a bit, both directions. I didn't verify that I took it all the way around, or not. I did ensure that I turned it both ways through the gap all the ways, on both sides. I figured that's where the damage would be?

Ok, the car now starts, but has a pretty bad tick.. I tried to upload a video, but it was too large of a file. I will try to get another. Sounds to be coming from the front side of the engine? I checked the fluids, oil still rather clean, not new, but close. It was about a half quart low on oil.she was smoking a little, started out a little white, then a little bluish, the a little darker, like it was a little rich. I let it run a little, took it around the block, and all the whitish and bluish smoke was gone, just looked a little rich at that point? It was surging pretty bad as well, but it has been without a battery for about a year. Anyway, I hope the noise is an easy fix. I guess I might have to turn my attention to my 4 runner, and swing back to this one soon? I was at least glad to gear it start, I know it not totally blown this way. I couldn't hear this noise while it was turning over, so I couldn't hear it.

It sounds like metal on metal clanking? I have a bad motor mount, and I have not re installed the dampener, could any if this cause anything?

I never used an aftermarket coil pack so I can't say whether they are any good, if it is positioned backwards, or if the plug wires are routed incorrectly. That's easy to look at.

u need to run the sho at least ten miles and put it through all of it's tasks before u can troubleshoot any other problems. the computer has long ago forgotten everything it knows so it needs to relearn. u will definitely feel this process correct itself as u drive. do yourself a favor and delete all existing codes before the relearn and then pull the new codes when u get back. this way u can keep away from all those rabbit holes. lol

Thanks, I will see about getting this done. I started it up today, didn't hear the tick? I could hear my tensioner pulleys make noise. I have only drove it about half a mile. I have a maf signal out of range, and a tp sensor error.

Great, thanks!. I will try to test this tomorrow. I will also remove the accessory belts and see if the noise stops? The car did develop the tick again, but I was able to warm it up some, with the maf sensor unplugged. The temperature guage doesn't work, but I did let it run until the fan kicked on. I also had to put anti freeze in it, and it needed more after I shut it off. I will look into that tomorrow as well.

I got around to the SHO again, I removed the belts and can still hear the tick. I am going to go in deeper after I can pinpoint the trouble area. I will put the belts back on and try to pinpoint better. I have a long screwdriver, but can't seem to get it found. If I get time today, I will try to look at it more, but I have several other things going on today, so that's a very bug if!
