a girl in the grade below me has a manual Z24 all riced out with a cheapo muffler tip and a black spray canned hood. i revved it up when hearing that can when i was at mcdonalds and she attempted to race me and i stopped her. my car burns a quart of oil every 400miles. so explain that to me it wasn't even a challenge.

shoguy, your right! 125 mph is about it... of course I'm sure it would go higher, but at a slower rate... I'd hate to get a ticket trying to find out.
Ohyeah, on my way to work early one morning a while back, I passed this Prelude (?) with a fart can. I am guessing Prelude because the tail lights were long (horizontal) and skinny. It was dark. He was doing 50- 55 in an open highway (55 speed limit) I accelerate to 70 after passing. I notice in my rear view that he is approaching rapidly. So I hammer it in 4th @ 70.I get to 125 mph, look to my left, and he is passing me fairly easily. eek! I couldn't believe it. I was humiliated... NOT MANY vehicles SHOULD out accelerate the sho at these kind of speeds. shrug

must be valve guides then, thats exactly how mine is. i stopped some prelude with a **** can last weekend he shut it down before 125mph i was like whew good thing lol. i was thinking it was either valve guides and seals or piston rings. it wouldn't be piston rings though would it?

I definitely wouldn't rule out piston rings... I just didn't think to mention that...
I guess I need to do a compression test... SOMEHOW oil is getting through (when I tromp on it, I get the 007 smokescreen) :D

why don't you find some heads, rebuild them and throw them on the car?

You have done so much, lost so much sleep and blood to that car, why not go the extra mile if you figure you know where the problem is?

Here's my best slip from today:

RT: .604
1/8th: 9.719 @74.178
15.008 @ 93.000

Not bad for a slow Gen III eh?

This is my new personal best with the full interior. With a stripped interior it would be in the 14.8 range easily.

Only mods are an Accel Blue panel filter with the airbox sucking hot air from under the hood, no resonator, no 3rd cat and the exhaust cut-out bypassing the mufflers. Total cost $250.
