Has anybody had new, stock motor mounts last without falling apart quickly? Right now I've got SHONUT's Extreme mounts, but even with Gen 3 subframe bushings, its too loud and annoying for me. I've been thinking of going to back to stock unmodified mounts. RockAuto appears to have the rear mount for $40, so I might try that first and see if it makes a difference.

Whats so loud and annoying? Mines are almost welded + Gen3 bushings , and besides the ultra quick throttle response , I didnt see any harsness what so ever....

My car is my daily driver and the noise and vibration has gotten old. I don't want to have to deal with it if I don't have to.

Give a holler to TYSHO he might have some GEN3 mounts. I got my GEN2's for my DD from him and they are great.

I would think they would last a while if your car isn't ridiculously modified, and as long as you don't beat the ever living crap out of it. I think a big reason mounts fail is the fact that they get old and have been through a lot of hot cold cycles which deteriorates the rubber/material holding it on. So if you can find brand new stock mounts I think that would help a lot. However instead of the extreme mounts why don't you go with just a reinforced mount? The extreme mounts are seriously compressed, and the rubber starts to feel solid at that point, the reinforced mounts aren't as bad.

Or you could give these a shot:

Thanks, I hadn't thought about the regular SHONut reinforced mounts. I may do that for the front mount.

Haha... I got to that point years ago and bought a separate car to solve the problem!

Also remember that you are working with a chassis that was designed 25 years ago...for use with 205 65 15 tires and mushy suspension.

You might not be able to improve the NVH by much.

I have this style mm, very stiff. The urethane kenny used i think was the shore hardness of 94a, thats what i used. Its damn near solid, and is more than likely stiffer than the shonut mounts.

Unless the stock engine mount has been improved over the years, I have to think that a reinforced mount is your best bet.

I have Gen III subframe bushings with SHONUT reinforced mounts (w/Eibachs and Tokicos) and I find the ride to be quite acceptable. And I'm somewhat picky. For example, I replaced some aluminum subframe bushings I had on there with the Gen IIIs because I thought the ride was too harsh.

ive ran a stock rear mount with a solid front for a while with no issues.noise and vibration are much less than with both mounts being solid.
