Full weight! Nice! I think Engine Masters just showed through dyno testing that icing the intake doesn't do anything. They had no change before or after. The explanation they gave was the air speed through the manifold was too fast for the molecules to entropy heat onto the cold intake manifold surface. Icing an intercooler though, with a lot more surface area, they said they would do something. Just throwing that out there.

Interesting, was that on a Taurus?

I realize this is completely anecdotal, because I'm a test of one but I did see my intake temps on the Livewire go from 150ish to under 100 when I iced it, my 11's runs came from the intake being 75-90 when I started as opposed to the others where I was 130-150 at the starting line.

Maybe next time I'll try to spray down the intercooler, I'll just make sure the car sits for a while, since the track tends to get a little angry when your car leaks all over it. :D

What does everyone else do to cool down their car between runs? (Besides meth, I'm getting old, there is no way I'm going to remember to fill up one more thing)

Were you looking at IAT or IAT2? IAT is in the air box (or filter). It is the best representation of ambient air coming in. IAT2 is on top of the manifold (part of the MAP). If you set a bag of ice directly on this, I could see it being slightly false as it would be the most cooled part. Last option would be to check the CACT. This is taken from the sensor on the noisemaker pipe and will show the temperature of the air entering the throttle body after being heated by the turbo and cooled by the intercooler.

It was not done on a taurus. But the test would hold merit even more with forced induction. There is just not enough surface area in the intake runners for the volume of air passing by it to be effected greatly. Then, as you said, if you ice close enough to when you run, you are leaking water on the track. I would stick to meth for cooling the air charge. It works wonders for our direct injection engines, since the fuel does not get a chance to cool the air.

IAT2, but I didn't set it directly on the map, one bag on each side of it.

I've kicked around the idea, more because of cleaning than cooling, I'll give it more thought but for now I'm just happy the old girl went 11's for me.

Full weight 11's was always the goal. (minus the spare and jack, because the PP cars don't have those anyway, although I'm sure there is someone out there that will get all pedantic about it)

meth is your friend.... the alki kit and converting the washer tank makes it easy when your low. The washer fluid light comes on to tell you you only have 5 more passes without running out of meth. :)

Ha! 5 more passes, that seems oddly specific, almost like the voice of experience talking there.

What about my washer fluid? I live in MN, so we go through that stuff in the winter like it's our job!

Nice pass. That trap speed is impressive for stock turbos and no meth or small shot.
I am hoping to get similar results once I get my E30 tune, considering we have essentially the same mods.

I was hoping for a good DA and did get it, although I was really hoping to start that morning but they had a private group show up, the DA at the start of the day was 25! May have been able to shave another .05 off. Basically like everyone says, it's a bunch of little things, that add up to getting into the 11's.

Oh and e30 was basically like when you go from stock to your first tune, it really woke up the car, I have a tough time going back to the AO tune now!

Good luck, if I can do it, anyone can!

If you run a low temp fluid without any additives (Rain-X, Bug Juice, etc) you can use it for both Meth injection and washer fluid. The -20 blue stuff is about 30% meth 70% water. If you really want, you can "spike" it with 3 of the yellow bottles of HEET. You can also use stuff like Boost Juice. Boost juice ~$13/gal. Washer Fluid is ~$4 and ~$2 for a bottle of HEET (~$10 total). Have your tune set for the 30/70 mix and you should be able to get the washer fluid at almost any gas station, parts store, or big box department store.

I have valve pics floating around here somewhere that show just how much meth cleans the engine. I think that alone is worth it. My mech said that no matter how many catch cans you put on this engine, it does not matter because the turbos seep oil at spool up.

That is the number one reason I circle back around to it.

Moving out! I think my full weight run I was only trapping 117 or something like that on stockers so you probably got some room to grow at that!

Meth is magic, and if you get an AO tune, then you'll never worry, meth fails, nothing blows up. Get the cooling and some HP without being dependent.

It cuts your washer fluid volume in half.
