92 MTX. Like the title says, I can't find a crankshaft position sensor online or at any of the part stores in town. Are these only available at dealerships? Any help would be much appreciated.

The PC17 that was on ebay for $300 sold a little while back. In the thread, Irish Pride (Chad) mentioned he knew of a source.

Well I found some. Supercoupe performance has them for $300 and you can even put them on layaway and make payments. :shakehead:

Correction to my previous post about the $300 CKS. They are $350+shipping.

Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up.

The length appears to be shorter than the one used on the SHO. Is that the price for one crank sensor. The website list them as a kit with a DIS, CPS and CKS

If they are dimensionally and functionally interchangeable, other than the wire length, that is workable. Plus the other stuff looks the same as sho stuff

That's the price for one crank sensor.
The guy on the phone said "I challenge you to find a new one anywhere else".

The part numbers I found are the same.

The Thunderbird part number is PC15, the SHO part number is PC17. I would think the difference is the length. The SHO CKS is about 22 inches long.

Is your sensor shot or are you looking to just replace it while doing the 60K. Airborne pulled the original crank sensor off an 89 he bought and it was the original Ford one when he finally had to replace it. It lasted 30 years and 100K.

They are new ones out there, someone was advertising a car that came with a new crank sensor.

I dont think I'm gonna install it when I do my front 60k. Save it for the 92 maybe. Or hold onto it until one of mine breaks. It's got me thinking, what the next part or sensor we wont be able to get new?

Ford 3.2 head gaskets used to be nearly impossible to find, but they are now listed as a kit on the Shosource site. I've been able to find most sensors or parts at Shosource, Ebay, Shonut, or Rockauto, etc. Parts have been popping up from time to time on ebay from dealerships getting rid of their old inventory and resellers posting them.

Can anyone explain how this pick-up fails (besides the usual of getting soaked or contacting the shutter wheel).

Ah you are correct, my bad.

Yeah I would just like to replace it. Car jumped time so while I'm in there I figured I'd just do what everyone reccommends.

I bought the car knowing it needed some work but in the short time I've owned it I've discovered it usually ain't as simple as "I'll run up to advance and get one." Initially the tensioner pulley bearing was screaming. No one in town could get it so I made a new pulley to accomadate an average tensioner bearing. Just tonight I went to pick up a crank seal and was told they couldn't get that either but to be fair I haven't been everywhere for that yet. Parts availability for this thing is making me nervous.

I'm not nervous yet, but at the same time it sucks having to be ok with getting a part that ONLY has 75k on it so it's better than the one that has 150k. Sometimes I envy popular car owners.
