Rotational weight reduction
What machine shop are you using here In Michigan? Building an engine right now. Theres a guy up by me but I’d rather take it to someone who has balanced these rotatings, crank should be here within a week.

Do you happen to recall if he had trouble balancing the crank on the flywheel side of things, these don’t seem to be externally balanced, hope my new crank isn’t bent
the crank pulley serves as a harmonic balancer if that is what you are referring to.

No, I think they just didn’t expect the crank to be that out of balance, they were questioning if it was externally balanced flywheel side. I haven’t heard back from them, so hopefully that’s a good sign

To do the balance, I provided the new crank, a flex plate, bolts for it, the timing gear, belt pulley and hard ware for that, and lastly - all of the new rods and pistons (which were also weight matched and modified. Also a used crank, old piston and rod setup for him to compare/understand ford's thinking. @810sho

This project is held up again by time needed for the heads to be cleaned up. Called on Friday to nudge the shop and remind them I'm still waiting lol. Being a project and not a shop calling due to a car on the hoist, I've been put on back burner. I nudge and said I have a deadline now and to bring those to the front.
Time will tell....

Hopefully everything goes well for you, it will be a riot of an engine, whatever it goes in. I also provided everything you mentioned besides the timing gear, in hindsight i probably should have. I called them this morning, and left a message hopefully they’ve made some progress over the week last week only time will tell
