Hey guys, after a lot of help from facebook pages, and you guys I’ve finally ordered the last pieces of the puzzle to the build. Unfortunately my engine ate a rod bearing in 2022 which practically killed the whole engine causing oil starvation issues, and a plethora of other problems due to metal getting into the oiling system. after getting the turbos back from cr the engine started knocking. you can see all the information on my thread "knock knock" if youre interested. I’ve been just picking away at the build list of jordans and the last thing to do is get the block machined, and rotating balanced before assembling, turbos are cr performance stage 3, SEP fmic, XDI 35, ppe catless down pipes. at this point the only thing that isnt brand new is the block fuel rails and injectors.

all oil lines, coolant lines, oil cooler, condenser, trans cooler (i have aux because of pp), is being replaced

my question is, would you also replace the injectors? if so would you spend the big bucks on xdi injectors or just get bosch replacements.

the car is by no means going to be a race car, its going to be a daily more than likely tuned by brad if he has any openings. it is tuned by ortiz right now, i also have a AO gearhead tune. eventually im going to get a fuel it sensor and go e30, but for the time being 93 is what its going to get.

considering the trans is the big weak point i feel this setup will be plenty enough power to make the trans hate its life. will be looking into the upgraded frictions and building a donor trans to have as a back up.

other than the injectors is there any other input you all would like to give? or is there anything i should do to make this thing last a while ?

does anyone know the roughness avg tolerance for cam journals ? how much scoring would you allow considering these heads have no cam bearings, would you just scrap the head if you can feel scoring on the journal ?

i appreciate any/ all feedback/ criticism.

thank you

That setup is gunna make more power than you can put down without the injectors so I wouldn't bother with the xdi for a daily and just go with new OEM. As for the longevity heat is your enemy it's going to cook that engine bay so oil cooler wouldn't hurt and isn't very hard Improved racing makes a sandwich plate adapter the " env-131-t6 " slap that bad boy on and throw a 20 inch mishimoto on the bottom of the stack it''l fit the lower grill opening for air passage perfectly, Your oil system is doing a lot of work in the car so do it a favor and your turbos a favor too because those mfers get hot.

Would love to hear their input. I know they have pushed this platform, and at the end of the day I’m wondering if I’m being too picky, the car ran good other than the physical damage, timing chain / tensioners and water pump are brand new. No check engine lights, made good boost pressure and sounded relatively healthy other than the knock. Now next question is should I ditch the oil screens or put them back in, I bought all new oiling components, even bought a new oil cooler, oil pan, high volume melling pump, every internal component will be new or reman besides the phasers timing gears and actuators, they all look in great condition, and the screens had no metal in them. Unless it’s suggested I’m going to just clean them up and re use them.

I am doing some research on who to have mine tuned by. I’ve heard good and bad about all reputable guys. Who is Brad that you referred to? Thanks
Search these forums for Brad AJP Turbo you will find his contact info. He has been my truly best tuner.

I don’t think you need xtreme-di injectors for your plans. I definitely wouldn’t run an Ortiz tune if I were you. Especially not after your engine build is done.

Ditch the oil screens they can prematurely ruin your turbos. I wouldn’t use them.

Transmission: at least get the Raybestos frictions, buy them off EBay. WIT (Whatever It Takes) transmissions sells them on EBay through their EBay store for much less than their regular price offered from WITTransmission shop…around $350. Remove the valvebody and solenoid assembly and use them for core refunds off a new set from Ford. These things will cost you around 1,000 or so. This should make your trans last a good while….if you can throw in a GearHead torque converter and you could probably consider the trans done.

Sweet thanks for the reply, does gh offer their tc anymore? Didn’t see it on their site last I checked, I’ll look into it. And 10/4 on the oil screens I’ll be throwing them out. Ortiz tune will not be used Brad is in the works to tune it once it’s all back together, I’m fine with being patient to get the best! Ordered the clutches today, thanks!

Things I had to adapt to during this build.
I started with an early built block. But also bought a later built engine core.
The new gear on the raptor crank is the wide gear style, which will require the wide gear phasers, studs for the timing chain guides and the double gear water pump. Just an FYI

Oh man I didnt think about that, when I was reading through Jordan’s he said that you just needed the gear and balancer and all the 13 components will work, I didn’t buy the same crank he did though, I bought the 2016 + sho crank and correct gear. The teeth look the same width I can measure them tomorrow when I get out to the garage, they look the same, I am using a 2013 engine though.

So, update time!

Challenging engine to build!

Car is running, like a champ. Had a couple hiccups, nothing major, sensor popped off some coolant/ oil line problems . Last weekend I had the chance to get it on the road after ~2.5 years of downtime going through the tuning steps with Brad. This thing RIPS already, definitely faster than my gto lmao (gonna need to re evaluate that one). Drove it to work all week this week so far it hasn’t missed a beat.

Trans is unmodified as of now, looking for a donor to build with all the goodies at a later date.

I’m appreciative of everyone who has posted and Or replied to me about their builds, progress on the platform, and even their problems, it helped me tremendously.

Here is a photo dump of all the pictures I got

if anyone has any questions feel free, and enjoy a photo dump of the project

Thanks !
