I have a smiliar type of problem with the driver's side rear window. Works fine from that door switch. The master switch won't put it down but will roll it up. When I hit the master button to go down I can hear the motor start to move then it just stops. Yes I have swapped out the switch. Think its a motor problem or...??

no its not the motor i am thinking electrical cause i put the switch back on and took my mom for a ride. Bad idea. She rolls the window down and it won't come back up. I get home and spend a hour trying to get it back up and finnaly i push the driver side master switch to roll up the passeger window and goes up without a problem.....

oh boy... it looks like it's time to get out the multimeter and look for shorts in the system ( not the most fun but you should do it ) you want to check v12+ coming into the switch and to the motor and grounding and all of that

what year sho do you have I've got a wiring schematics book i can scan and email them to you if you want

Think we are both having the same problem with shorts in the wiring? I'm not about to tear my car apart for that. I'll just keep reaching behind me to roll it down...

I had a problem like this...and I have one now...before I took the master switches out of the door and cleaned up the contacts that the switches make. It worked for about a year and a half. Its starting to do it again with my passenger window, but to get it to work, I just tap the drivers switch 3 or 4 times or until the window starts to move, and then hold down the switch...

Im just too lazy to fix it right... ;)

You usually dont have shorts in the wires...its either the contacts the switch makes or the motor itself..

It's wouldn't be under the carpet... it would be breaks close to the connections like right at the switch or at the motor and i would really look at the switches again

Well, I'll check the switch again by swapping it out with a known good one. If that doesn't work I might swap in wiring from a different door since I have a parts car. :D Thanks for the help.

this could also be a problem like i have on the 91. . when both doors are closed the rear drivers window will go down but not up with the master switch. when i open the front door the window works correctly from both switches. both switches work fine i'm guessing a wires is cracked in the harness thats between the door and the frame. (talk about infuriating when trying to install custom window switches) might be something similar with you. i replaced everything switches/motor/master switch only to discover its in the wiring in the door.

Wow, just tonight I had this problem....I picked my friend up from work with 3 people in the car already, he went to roll down the window to have a smoke and it wouldnt go down, he says "can you unlock my window" and I unlocked it but his side was dead and the other side was fine (rear windows) Neither the master switch or the switch on that door worked....I dont get it, it worked a week ago but now its dead......
