what is top speed in 2nd gear?

A buddy in his 01 Mustang GT (catless H pipe, CAI, UDP's) wanted to SHOw me up, well he did
On a 55 mph roll at that
OD was off. When the car first downshifted to 2nd, I held my ground pretty good, but when it shifted to "Drive", he walked me. I am thinking if I would have manually dropped it to 2nd, and left it there to redline, I would have at least hung with him... so, like I titled this, what is top speed in 2nd?
any thoughts?

If you really push it, 2nd will go to about 90.

I tried this by manually shifting it the other day!

So what, an MTX SHO will own a third Gen from a roll, highway roll especially! I never minded going through an extra gear with my MTX's!

Topping second in D (for best times, not MPH) it will shift at about 76. Topping out 2nd in 2 will be about 83 (not sure though, I dont watch the speedo, just the tach)

Keep going... I bounced off the limiter at 144 in 3rd, and still had some legs left. With the chip switched on, I think 150 would have been attainable in 3rd.

You must have some tall tires if you are bouncing off the top speed limiter in 3rd. 134 mph is ~7k with stock tires IIRC.

With my 3.98 final drive I get about 75 mph @ 7k in 2nd gear.

Nope. My tires are just a tiny bit shorter than stock.

So what are your RPMs at 144 mph in third?

I don't know for sure. I've only been there once, and I wasn't looking down too much. I think it was around 6800-7000. I know at 135 I was WELL below 7K and I just pushed it from there. I've been to 135 many times, but I only went beyond it that one time b/c I had perfect conditions on the Ohio interstate.

I'm not a SHO pro, but...

my boyfriend drives a manual SHO and i usually watch his speedometer bc he likes to go really fast (as all SHO drivers should..) but i dont like for him to drive too fast when im in the car and so that is why i watch his speed.. anywho he usually gets to about 80 in second if he wants to... then i have to yell at him to slow down and then he'll go back to decent speeds of 50 or 60... lol
