Have a 94 3.0 with 130,000 miles and recent 120,000 overhaul. Around town the oil consumption is nil but on the highway at 70 MPH the consumption is significant. I just replaces front seal and the plug wells are dry and there is no smoke.

I use Castrol GTX oil . Any recomendations as to viscosity and where the oil is going?

By overhaul, do you mean rebuild, or just a 60k? Have you tried any high mileage oils?

How recent was the overhaul? It takes a while for the new rings to seat. Were the valve seals replaced?

no leaks? No smoke?

If you are blowing down the freeway at 70 and are using up oil, there should be some trace of black on your bumper or something showing that you are burning the oil. Anything?

How much oil are you using? After a fresh oil change, the dipstick might be tough to read. System holds 5.5 quarts using a FL400S filter.

It was the 60K overhaul. I am using GTX 5W/30. Do you mean the GTX High Milage Oil?

So you did the 60k maintenance, not a rebuild?

Try 10W/30 in the high mileage formula.
