I was in Chi-town with the Mikey's from Midwest SHO trying to install the SHOshop UDPs I got in the last group buy. The alternator pulley ended up being the wrong one because when it is tightened down, it rubs against the alternator. Hopefully Mikey will chime in to clarify the issue. We did get the water pump and power steering pullies installed, however we had to put the stock alternator pulleys back on so I could get home. Now after waiting months for SHOshop to ship out the pullies after the group buy, I’ll probably have to wait another few more to get the correct alternator pulley. Thanks SHOshop! thumb

perhaps it should have a spacer behind it??? its not terribly uncommon for alternator pulleys to have spacers behind them to keep what you just described from happening...

We looked into that, but I think even the slightest spacer would cause the belt to not track straight which could lead to wear on one side.

Mike, It's VERY common for the 93's to have the wrong pulley - there were 2 for that year, reportedly based on build date. That's when they switched from the 90amp to the 120amp, IIRC.

Just ask Tom to swap them out. How was the shaft diameter vs. the ID of the pulley?

Anyway, good luck!

That happened to mine also a while back. Contact Tom. Usually they can rectify it. How long it takes well...

I had the same problem with my '89; running the stock alternator pulley and belt in the meantime.... probably best to ship the stock pulley to them so they can match it up since they did not understand why it was not a correct fit...not the first time for a little surprise here and there. I'll wait until the winter when the SHO hibernates....

This is what I was telling you Mike. This is why I think that people commonly get the wrong pulley.

The inner diameter of the pulley is right on, but with the bolt tightened, it just spins on the shaft or doesn't spin at all.

Props go to Mike D for the install... I was just cleaning out my trunk, complaining, and answering questions when asked. :)

SHO SHOP originally sent me the wrong alternator pulley to begin with also. I sent it and my water pump pulley (after it broke on the way to the 2002 convention) back into Tom and had my replacement pulleys back in a week and a half with a sincere apology.
