Well, I finally got around to my dads red 95 ATX do figure out what was wrong with it. When he bought it, it had a slight rubbing sound on the front side of the motor. I pulled the TB covers off expecting to fin the TB tensioner collapsed, but no. I inspected a little further and noticed that the crank gear had about 7/16" groove where the keyway is. (Crank cancer...) But anyways the strange part about this is, the crank is perfectly ok, but the keyway was about worn down to nothing. I'll post pics later on tonight of the gear and keyway.

P.S. This car only had 69,000 miles on it.

Damn! 69,000?!?

Makes me think the mileage is wrong. Especially given the general condition of that sprocket.

same exact thing with my car. when i first got in way back when. We thought something was wrong with it when it wouldnt idle correctly and it had almost a +40 cam loop. Pulled it off to find out it was a early stages of crank cancer. Looked the same as yours. The key was worn down to nothing also.

Lucky, lucky, lucky. I seems we are seeing more and more "crank cancer" victims from people incorrectly tightening the crank bolt. It's a shame.

I'm betting that when the ford dealer did the TSB on the TB, they left it loose.. This car definitley has 69k on it.. we are the second owner, and I have 4 sets of gears :thumb: but Thanks for looking out!!

Well, It survived.. I put it all back together today, did a full 60k didnt need a single shim changed.. purrs like a kitten, but the CEL is coming on in lockup, pretty sure its an EGR/PFE malfunction. But I thought I'd followup and say all went great!
