I'd like to start by saying I looked and couldn't find a solution to this issue on the forums. I could have course overlooked something :p Anyhow that being said, my turn signals stopped working on my 97 SHO. At first they started blinking really fast and now they don't blink at all. I went through the rather annoying task of replacing all the bulbs and it fixed nothing. I checked the fuse under the dash and it was fine. I did notice however that the fuse box in the engine bay had something that makes reference to the flashers and such but it is one of the larger, gray, sort of relay looking thing. I couldn't get it out and even if I could I wouldn't know how to tell if it is bad. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind. After a little more digging in the forums I found something about a dirty hazard button. After monkeying with it for a couple minutes it worked just fine. :sun:

And P.S. if any of the Ford Engineers responsible for such things that keep showering my boring and meaningless life with fun are reading this here is a personal :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

I honestly wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't have to put my ice cold beer down on my day off and stand in the blazing Florida sun turning a ratchet with glee. :salute:

13 years is a long time for dirt to work into a switch. Any switch (well, except NASA totally sealed ones, which cost more than the car did new).

Hope the tan is working out well, though. ;) :)

You know, I have had this car for over a decade, but over 180,000 miles on it, and in general it has needed no special repairs at all other than normal wearing out stuff. I did weld the cam sprockets, but past that it has been extremely reliable. I think the old saws about Ford are interesting, but simply not proved out by my experience. Of course, I also do preventive maintenance and whenever something starts to break, I fix it, and I do not abuse the car (though I certainly drive it very hard, feeling that Ron Porter's 'drive it like you stole it' is the way to get performance out of the machine. So I cannot go with the Fix Or Repair Daily thing. And, for what it is worth, having owned 4 other Fords I can recall, none of them were that bad for repairs. I think it is a bum rap. If you treat a good machine well, it treats you well back.

Yeah, I've owned several mustangs, an explorer and my SHO and all of them have been great to me all in all. However! That being said. My wife's windstar was a total pile of garbage. I ended up giving it away for the cost of towning it off the interstate the last time it decided to give up the ghost. :banghd:

Never had one of their vans (or anyone else's, for that matter), but like you I have had multiple Mustangs and Explorers, all to excellent use and very minor complaint, if any. All auto makers have some models that are problems, but any maker where most things you get from them are good or very good deserves some kudos.
