Prices are approx because i really recall but:
$80 Lumiled Superflux LED's
$15 for perforated circuit board
$20 for PWM kits
$20 for Voltage regulator
and some more for misc heat shrink and silicone sealer. The biggest killer was having to buy to sets of tail lights, i bought one to experiment with and then another to throw on the car while i pulled apart my niteshaded tails, all in all it was kinda of expensive considering what it is. It could be done for much cheaper with truck modules if your looking to convert.

To be honest i wouldnt really want to another similiar to this again because it took so long to do, however you could use truck modules like these and do a setup similiar to ddakrt's build and do it fairly easily/cheaply.

I actually bought two kits(one for each tail light for simpler wiring), i bought the kits from this place Quickar part number ML-804. Even though they are indeed kits which require only soldering to work, the type of transistor they use ,(PNP or NPN) not sure which it is, causes a problem when using dual mode(park light and brake light) the modification that needs to be done is to wiring the source from the brake switch into the trigger (base) of the transistor to over ride the Pulse width that is set and basically tell the circuit to go to 100% duty. If it is too hard to follow this description heres a pic;



This picture illustrates the parking function and brake function wired through a voltage regulator, this is what alot of people do when doing full retrofits instead of or on top of resistors. For example my setup, which is what a few others have run on hidplanet, regulates source voltage from battery voltage down to 9.8v and then run to strings of 4 leds (21 strings per tail light). Each led can handle 70ma of current which in strings of 4 leds with 9.8v source voltage is about how much current flows through each string.

This project boils down to being tedious not really too difficult, since pre made circuit boards go for hundreds of dollars my circuits were hand laid 24 gauge wire. This is the only thing that i didn't take a picture of. If one were to know how or learn how to solder it really isn't to hard to complete something like this, there are many of those over on hidplanet that have done led tail lights and many of which post pictures and circuit designs making easy to follow along and do similar setups. This is not to say you in particular Ohioshodude need too much help with electrical projects with the mods you have done to your gen I. lol.

thanks for that. yeah i've been to HIDplanet and i seem to give myself information overload... hehe i look at too much at one time then get myself confused. i follow your example, it makes sense.. you did it just how i would have! it looks great. maybe i'll put this one the list again for the gen1. like it doesn't have enough already.

Edit: How did you actually mount just a big piece of flat board to the housing? Not with JB Weld I'm imagining.

I trimmed the boards to be almost and interfernce fit then used clear rtv silicone behind it to glue it down to the taillight, but there really isnt anywhere for the board to move since its almost sandwich between the lense and the housing.

Well simple is a relative term but i mean simple in construction, to understand the operation it does take some thought.
