Now that I like. What do they look like with the brakes on? Did you make the reverse lights LED, also?

Reverse lights are still incadescent, everything i read on hidplanet said that i would be dissapointed with the output of white leds. They look the same when brake are applied just brighter, they are dimmed for the parking lights using a simple dc motor controller/pulse width modulated circuit.

You can get some really bright leds if thats what you were looking for. Usually leds are around 5,000-10,000 mcd, but you can get white leds that measure 135,000 mcd! The led tails look great by the way.:thumb: I would imagine it would take a lot of work to do something like that.

Yea i my first version of tail lights were using 72 12,000 leds and they werent 1/3 as bright as those pictured, its more of the viewing angle that matters, not to say the light output isnt most important but the leds i ended up using have a 70* view angle vs the standard 20* for 5mm leds, the leds i used are Lumiled brand which are pretty much the best from what i gather and they dont make a white led in the superflux version. plus i figure the tail lights are what really matter for led the reverse lights are on about 1% of the time the car is driving so i said the heck with an extra couple hrs of work for the reverse lights.

Yeah I guess the viewing angle is important. After all, you want the leds to illuminate the whole taillight so that is true. You don't have the reverse lights on too often so yeah it probably wouldn't be worth it to spend hours to do the reverse lights.

Tail lights look great. I'm sticking with the round modules, but I honestly like the way yours look better!

If i knew how much it took to do a retro like i did before i started i would have gone with round modules and called it a day but i do have to admit the end result looks really good, all this praise made worth it as well, thank you every one for the positive reinforcement.:)
