Hello my gearhead brethren. I picked up an amazing find 1 year ago, a 2010 sho with pp and only 18500 miles. Stock and well cared for... its barely broken in! I want to take it to the next level and have been researching plenty since then. Looking for ideas and opinions. Here are my modest thoughts thus far.

Thinking LMS t440 or t460 pkg. Not sure I'll spend for the exhaust right off. But the plugs, cai, low temp thermostat, 3 bar map sensor and tuner are appealing. Is that the best bang for the buck though?

Also intend to pair with a gearhead intercooler once back in stock.

Wondering who makes good downpipes as well. I would probably leave this and exhaust for a second round next year. Hoping to stay under 2k for this year.

My end goal it's to be around 450 hp and in the 12s but don't want to do extensive modifications or compromise longevity as this is likely to be in the family a good long while being driven maybe 3k miles a year lol.
Thanks for your input!

Lol thanks guys! @yaycandy what do you suggest or run? Since my general plans included gh intercooler I'm thinking maybe stick with them for tuning too? My draw towards lms was the plug and play capability. Does gh require data logging?

GH tunes do not require logging but it is in your best interest to send them a log to ensure the health of the car and make some adjustments to improve and refine your tune. most of the time you get a bit more power out of the revision! learning how to log is not that hard and a lot of us to answer your questions. GH and Ortiz offer power packs with plugs, T stat, tune ect. and stay sct and skip lms.

Stay with GH for tuning. Ajp Turbo is too far behind for new customers
Maybe one or 2 logs. Im sure the first tune he makes if you have all the parts already installed will be very close and then an adjustment log for fine tuning.

Logging may be difficult for some people, usually because you need to run 3rd gear out and thats like 101mph on a non pp. But doing it just once is alright and is really best for later down the road. If LMS would have required it after tuning, most of us wouldnt of had the issues we had IMO.

Ok guys I'm feeling you on GH. Then what about cai, what experiences have you had in these? Also any other recommendations for improvement longevity/care ?

A stock box and a K&N drop in flow more then the stock turbos can use. Any CAI without upgraded turbos is a complete waste of money.

Cai is mostly for show, k&n drop in is best bang for buck for mpg and hp. Stock unit is made well for stock turbos. I did a complete custom piped hks setup and saw very little gains over the airaid/roush setup i previously had. Only very little gain was at a specific rpm well over 4000rpm where my tuner who was with me at the dyno said the turbos must fight a bit for air right at that rpm for a split second as my new setup is a pipe and filter for each turbo, no sharing

Yea k&n drop in filter, best for budget. My car sees alot of car shows a year so its 99 percent show

Welcome to the start of your mod journey!

We offer an EcoBoost Starter Pack that offers excellent performance out of the box and even more potential once datalogged. Like others said, the CAI is pretty far down the list of things you need, but it does give some good whoosh whoosh noises if you can find one used. the one @mybigsho is selling is a great deal, and it's made by Airaid so it's good quality.

Let me know if we can help! There are potential issues with tuning the 10-12 SHO models with SCT, and its a roll of the dice if the pcm will brick in the process, but we've had great success with the HPTuners RTD. I'm out of stock on them currently but have 15 more on the way so we should have them by Monday hopefully at the latest.

Dude that's awesome and much appreciated! It's about 5 and 1/2 hours away lol. I'd probably save by paying for you to ship it me instead. I'll get at you by this weekend on that offer man :)

Your feedback has been much appreciated! So let me pose this question a different way. If you all had a stock sho like mine, and wanted to keep your budget to roughly 2 grand for now, what would you invest in? Keeping in mind I never intend to go full out competition build. Not trying to beat hellcats at the drag strip, but may take it to the drags once a year for the fun of it. Would be nice to know 98% of cars a red light don't stand a chance. Would like to be confident that it won't strand a 72 year old elderly lady driving it anywhere either lol.

Tune and accompanying components
AD trans mounts
H&R’s
PPE downpipes

but that’s just me... with your $2000.

H&r springs? To lower it I presume. Well I'm in Maine and it will see snow/ frost heaves so I'd probably skip that. Lol. Are downpipes worth it without a cat back system?

I'm not familiar with the AD trans mounts. I presume AD is the company?

No the man, Anthony Dicunzolo. He sells the good stuff. You can shoot him an email to inquire at
[email protected] My favorite mod I’ve done to my car. Before I’d get such bad wheel hop on hard launches I’d get knocked into limp mode. Completely eliminated that and really improves the shifts.

About H&R’s, I daily mine about 12K miles a year and live in northwest Indiana so I’m intimately acquainted with trash roads and feet of snow. If lowered isn’t your thing I get it but there is no hindrance in inclement weather. I’d even argue it helps. A little more bumpy for sure but the handling improvement far outweighs it for me.

Downpipes? Yes they make a difference even paired with the stock catback. The factory downpipes are way undersized and restrictive. I put together my own catback because I personally think everything out there sounds terrible.
