i wondered if anyone has pictures or a place to download instructions on how to take appart a 5 speed transmission!!

the reason is i have the 5 speed with the quaife in it that i pulled out of the car i got the supercharged motor from . i re used his stage 3 clutchmasters clutch kit ( 500 miles on it at most) , he did cause he was having disengage issues... he took th transmission to a shop and they took appart and inspected and confirmed there was a quaife in it . anyways i put that whol driveline assemble back into my car with a 3 year old sho nut ceramic tob .i inspected the tob before installing and it spun well and wasnt worn! josh said that they only just repack it if its ok! and that it either spins or doesnt .

so anyways i got maybe 300 km on the car all year just because of issues here and there . about a week ago i noticed i couldnt disengage clutch .. and this was while i went around the block and was coming to a stop.. all of a sudden!

so i ended up noticing the cable seemed loose when i got home so i played with the quadren and got some disengage out of it ... went for a drive the next day and it seemed ok! again i have driven it hard in any means yet , all granny shifts and gental... i parked it and it was ok!

next day went for a drive... rolled out of driveway... same thing needed to adjust quadren again.... wasnt perfect but could at least get in and out of gear ! went for a 40 min drive

while on the freeway or highway we call it , i was doing normal speeds 110 or 65 miles an hour... go to get off and peddle feels very hard and cant disengage nor put in nuetral! wow was hard to get home cause i had to staul the car if i came to a light and cars were stopped . i had to start it but car moved cause no clutch disengage!

get home.. even after car is off cant put into free .. i had to **** the starter a few times and then try and it would come into free only with engine not running

so make me thing something is binding... it didnt got 100% smoothe into gear when i first started to drive! thiought it maybe be the worn out rod shifter ...

makes me think a few fingers broke off and the tob is into the pressure plate and maybe some of the bearings are worn or something on the input shaft??? or the syncros are gone!

i have 2 spare transmissions here , one that was rebuilt but it had some disengage issues too but i think was due to a bad used clutch and tob i had in at the time and the other one is mint , so i was wondering how hard it is to rip one apart... and take quaife out and put into the mint one and just install new cv shaft seals and any other small parts i have to make it last longer

anyone have pics or a site with step by step and picture on re and re the transmission insides???

thanks

also anyone have any feedback??? trying to determine the cause of the issue!

Sounds like a clutch issue for sure. I had a clutch go out and it had the exact same symptoms. Turned out 1/2 of the disk material had separated and wedged itself in causing a no release.

Sounds to me like the plastic gear on the quadrant is not holding there for letting the cable get slack.
Or its the flywheel flexing that's also been a issue with the double diaphragm clutches.

ya I put the camera in tonight... and didn't see anything out of the ordinary... the cable seemed to be holding but I had to push up on the quadren only if I let the clutch peddle spring back.. but its getting full motion when depressing the clutch . gonna yank the motor and tranny out next week and take a look! I have a few things I want to double check anyways on the motor and with the receiver dryer too! so what better time to do when nothing is in the way! lol

There are several people who have been there done that with the aluminum flywheel and they just are not good with the DD pressure plate.

If you find yourself a factory service manual, it has have a complete tear down of the MTX-5. rcmautomotive.com is where I got mine. And it's useful for just about everything else to.

Stage III clutch seems like overkill for a NA SHO, Unless you are, or planning on running SC or Turbo, I'd go with a stock style like Luk for that flywheel and it'll be much better to drive.

Aren't there SC and turbo shos with stock discs and pp's?
