Yes this happen to mine also. And yes the entire rear piece is the way it comes from ford. My dealer thought they could just change the emblem out, and apparently you can't.

My front emblem is looking pretty bad. Can it be replaced without a whole new grill?

Yep, the front emblem can even be replaced without removing the grill even, just remove the little plastic panel between the rad support and the grill.

Guess what I have happening...yeah, my taillights have begun to have the chrome flake off. So far only the right side, the left still looks fine, but I will be stopping at the dealer soon to get the replacements ordered. Just a little FYI, to let everyone know I've joined the chrome reduction crew.

I am actually seeing some what I would call minor flaking on my 2011 which I don't think is supposed to happen. Right now you have to look hard, but it's there.

Dealer took a few pictures of my tail lights today and called couple hours later letting me know Ford would cover replacement. Should be good as new next Friday.

Took mine by the dealership 3 weeks ago for the pictures and since I hadn't heard anything I called today. They said I was turned down and they are looking for someone to pay for the replacements since they cost 800 bucks. Needless to say I will have the owner in front of me when he gets back in town. I mentioned the TSB but the service lady said that means nothing.

I agree, take it to another dealer. I was told sorry, Ford will take care of this and see you next week. BTW, did you take it to the dealer where you purchased the car?

Mine replaced them no problem. They even replaced the rear emblem and chrome piece without question. It's a known issue. Take it to another dealer or ***** until you get your way. I couldn't believe you would let it sit there for 3 weeks. I took mine in, showed it to the tech and left. They called me the next day and set up a time to bring it in. I was there for about 2 hours and they were fixed. Unfortunately the rear chrome piece was a little more problematic because they ordered the wrong part twice.

It didn't sit, they took their pictures and I left driving it. They said they would call and after not hearing anything I called them.

Mine started peeling, and I think the one (pass. side) will be replaced next week. I wish they didn't have to junk the whole light...such a waste.

Just noticed it on mine too. Called the dealership, & my salesman was already aware of the problem with the chrome peeling off & told me to bring it by when I had a chance & they would take care of it. Surprised it was that easy!
