Can you post them? I'd like to check this out. I now understand the issue.

Thanks, if this happens Matt (SHOContinental) or I will post the thread for Jose.

Thanks again,

Sal

Sounds like you guys are going to use Bob Gervais' design.

Excellent point Paul.
The FSTB on my SHO is adjustable on both sides. I bought it used from a fella up in MI that was parting out a 97 dropped 1.5" w/Rouch lowering springs.
I have no idea whom made it, but when I installed it, I was forced to adjust it to fit correctly aprox 1/4" to fit my alighnment.
My 96 is only dropped into the struts lowering it only 5/8".
Doing the math would only lead me to assume that the FSTB SHOuld have at least 1/2" to 5/8" adjustability to acomodate for alignment issues resulting from lowering.
This would make it universal to fit from stock to 2" drop.
I have pics if you need them Jose/Sal.

That would be one of my bars, they're the only ones made that are adjustable. Did the homework years ago on that, with the help of Nimz and Doucette.

I'm just checking interest on this.. and I will not be touching the money. If it happens it'll go through Jose, he had his Strut tower brace custom made, and if anyone else seriously wants one.. post here.. this is purely a interest/question thread, please don't post anything else.... ;)

There is no set price yet, Jose said he'd have to check with the guy that made them, and it'd also depend on the # of people buying them. Also they have not been tested on any other engine, so no need to ask.

here's his brace.

so, anyone interested?

Matt, are you sure that's not a SHOshop bar? I had Nimz's a while back, and it looked exactly the same, right down to the ends.

Perhaps a "faithful reproduction" right down to where the EGR hits the bar. :)

We're not using Bob Gervais design, cause if we were... for whatever reason it would take a year and a half to produce one.

This, as I was told, is a custom bar made by a fabrication shop in Southern California. No way connected in part with SHO Shop or any other well known SHO vendor for that matter.

Jason and Bob, if you guys would like we could talk more about this matter over the TCCA boards... OH Yeah, that's right... nevermind.

I wasn't accusing, and I don't think Jason was either. Almost any part that's not patented can be reproduced. Of course, when someone's already gone through the trial, error, and engineering to make a better product, it's almost a waste of time to do it all over again.

To be honest, I have no problem at all with someone copying a design. It's a sideline, and if I thought it could have ever been a full time gig, I would have patented the design. Even then, patents can get copied without people knowing it.

Best of luck with the design. Looks like some nice quality welds!

The only thing I'd ask Sal, is that if there's a problem with me, you contact me. You have my cell number, and my email is [email protected]. IMO it's always best to keep personal differences off forums, and resolve them between the parties in disagreement. :)

As the old saying goes - vendors are affordable, fast or high quality - pick two. Bob is affordable and high quality - thus the remaining time issue. No need to attack him. He stays in contact with his customers and they always get their product. I've seen plenty of other group buys turn out *much* worse.

If you would care to discuss any of this, feel free to e-mail or PM me.

Well say what you want but the pictured bar is a SHO Shop bar. But they are out of business so who cares. That being said and as the owner of one SHO Shop bar on a lowered Gen 3 this is what needs to be done.

Do not slot the plates. Do add adjustable 1/2" diameter thread eye bolts to the ends. Most of the adjustment will be on the drivers side. About half as much is needed on the passenger side as the drivers side due to the interference with the PS line. I have just one eye bolt on the drivers side and slotted plates. The drivers side eye bolt is just about maxed out.

This is the FSTB I have. Overall a pretty good design but kinda thin. It was easy to fix the dent on it.
The 97 SHO it came from was owned by a fella in MI. that passed away. His BIL decided to part the SHO and I bought most of the mods as well as the shell. It was a very nice SHO w/heavy mods.

Yep, that's one of my earlier designs. That huge kink in the bar looks like crap, and it definitely didn't go out like that. They must have tried to bend it for some reason.

I duuno how they kinked it, but it fits really tight back in there.
IIRC the front motor mount from that SHO had a hole in it. That may be how it got kinked. :oogle:

I doubt any of it is REAL Carbon Fiber. Metal works best.

Carbon Fiber wouldn't hold up anyhow.

alright, seriously.... did anyone read the first post?

We are not seriously strict topic police here, and I do not find the amount of straying to be of any real concern at this point.

A couple of comments on what has gone above. First, I have Bob's in mine, and if you are going to produce a similar design, you will likely be very happy with it. His was simple to install and adjust, and its results were immediately noticable when pushing the car on the back roads. Second, someone mentioned about having to do a rear strut brace also if doing the front one, but the Gen III already has what amounts to one of these from the factory. It is the metal bar that forms the support at the top for the rear seats, so no rear bar is needed.
