I did a search and can't seem to find anything on this except resetting the idle...

when starting the car (hot or cold) the idle is about 800-900... after driving for about 10 minutes the engine idles at about 1200-1300... if I shut the car off and restart it goes back to normal idle.... tonight after a 45 minute drive the idls was about 1800... I shut it off and restarted and it went back to normal again...

could it be a stuck TB?? any thoughts??

I had a similar problem. Turned out that I forgot to hook up one of my small vacuum lines. Check your vacuum and see what you get. Also listen carefully around the engine. If you have a leak you should eventually hear it if you have a good ear.

Does the idle actually change, or is the needle just moving up and down sporatically? Mine did this, and the fix was putting another tach in. No problems since.

well I haven't done anything to the engine since last year and this problem started just in the past few weeks, but I will look for a vacuum line that may be loose...

as far as the idle change, it is not sporadic, it is constant... after a short time of driving it goes from normal idle to upwards of 1400-1600 rpm which makes it hard to get into geer... the only remedy I have found is to shut the car off and restart after a few seconds which is making me think of a stuck TB... but it could be other things... I'm taking the intake apart soon for cleaning so I guess I can check then but it is getting really annoying lately...

thanks for any help....

What actions have you taken thus far?
If you have confirmed that there is no vacuum leak and you have cleaned the IAB, I suppose the Throttle Position Sensor would be next.

so far I have cleaned the IAB and have found no vacuum leaks...

spedo is working fine as far as I can tell with no abnormal problems there...

my climate control system is also playing havoc with my idle as well... when turned on it effects the idle speed and my power delivery when on the throttle... when at a stop light the idle will dip for a few seconds and then return to "normal" as it were... and no I am not using the A/C just the window defroster to defog at about 75 degrees... the outside temp has been around 60 degrees the past few days.... nice summer weather huh?? was 90 a week ago....

I will check the throttle position sensor and pull codes to see if that gives me a clue... I am at a loss as to the cause of this issue...

thanks for the input....
