My oil pressure light started Flickering at anything below 850RPM. This condition only occurs for a moment if I lug it from a full stop, turn the wheel hard at idle, when the A/C kicks on at idle etc.. The oil pressure light never comes on when the engine is running above 900RPM

Also, I can hear the beginnings of rod bearing wear upon cold startup.

I have switched from 10W30 to 10W40 oil...the light seems to flicker less often, and the rod bearings seem happier.

Is it a good idea to thicken the oil viscosity when the engine starts to show wear?

What weight oil was originally recommended for the SHO?

What is the heavyest oil you would recommend for the SHO?

Has anyone tried motor honey? Does it just make your oils viscosity higher or does it really help valve stem seals?

slick 50 is the way to go for like a engine treatment. but yeah thicker oil will help prolong wear but is a small band aid remember to go back to 10-30 or whatever you use for the winter.

Change your rod bearings now, or change your entire engine later.

I changed my bearings shortly after posting this thread and the engine still runs great. My oil light has not been a problem.

oye! I'm so bored at work, I'm updating rediculously old threads.
