Hi guys,

I just finished a 60k on my car and I need to know something. When you have driven the car with oil in the spark plug wells, is it neccessary to replace the spark plugs? The car runs better than before, but I notice hesitation in perfomance. What is a fouled plug and has anyone experienced something like this before? I can't understand how the spark plugs are damaged, or because of misfire.

I'd replace them too, it's cheap and easy.

But as long as you cleaned them off real good and re-gapped them, I don't see why they shouldn't be fine, or at least should be better than before.

I'd be more concerned about your spark plug WIRES. It's even worse to have the rubber boots of the wires soaking in oil, and more than likely the oil got up into the boot itself, up where the spark originates from the coil.

Of course, I wouldn't personally replace either unless you've already replaced the valve cover gaskets...otherwise, you'll get oil on both of them once again. No sense in ruining your new plugs and wires until you fix the root cause of the problem (the gaskets)

I still have my new plugs and wires sitting in my trunk because I haven't yet gotten around to doing my gaskets. But I pulled out all my plugs and wires and wiped them off real good, and it makes a world of difference...for now. I know that it's inevitable that more oil will seep down in there before I'm able to do the gaskets.

yeah, Id' bet there is oil inside the boost still and the spark is shorting out down the outside of the spark plug when you floor it. either take the rubber ends of the wires and clean it all and plugs really good with soap, or buy all new.
