I just got my SCT X4... thinking of finding a way to mount that there for the time being... at least until I get my tunes I want dialed in.
I have an x4 I can build a mount for it using mine as a template. food for thought. another route would be to stick a metal ring on it and use a mag mount.

I just did my rear decklid swap from a junkyard 2015 ruby red metallic taurus. It was immaculate minus some minor corrosion on the inside lower lip to which I sanded down. I installed it today and swapped over my SHO ecoboost badge over too. All lights work backup camera and latch work. I'll call it a win! I do have to re-wrap the chrome trim again though.

Finally got back around to touching the car to run over a few missed things on my journey to find my weird noise. Checked everything in the driveline one more time. Flushed the PTU which I'm pretty sure was somehow low, flushed the vent hose, drain and filled the RDU and attempted to inspect the rear turbo but that's not happening with my giant hands so planning to run a boroscope down the pipe just to have a look-see.

What I did find was a lot of oil dripping out of the turbo and oil line, and a bolt partially backed out so far up under the manifold I can't reach it without taking down the turbo. Not sure where it goes or what its holding, somewhat mid block. and the pinion seal on the PTU has a small leak.

But the ptu seems surprisingly healthy, the RDU fluid was like new after 20k miles with almost nothing on the magnet, and I dont get any smoke out of the exhaust to suggest a bad turbo. Still going to dig around but at this point I have nothing but a strange noise preventing me from driving it so I'm just gonna run it. Either the issue will reveal itself or it'll just be something she does from now on.

Still going to squirrel away some money for the inevitable parts, GH turbos are only a few hundred more than the Ford PTU, I could've taken my family on vacation but I drive an SHO lol.

Im skating by so far my car has been ans still good mechanically. But when I drive hard (not often) rotten egg smell which is PTU fluid heat up. Ugh. Scares me that it could fail. Its not IF its WHEN it will. Ive also got a noisy A/C compressor that sounds like a bad bearing within the unit itself. With it being 90s and 100° heat indexes ive been running my A/C alot so maybe its wearing out but not certain.

Junkyard,

If the venting system is not working on the PTU it will push oil out of the seals. I ran the hose up to the top of my engine compartment and put a large breather on it. It seems to have stopped the leaks and the seals look clean.

Frank
I think at my next PTU service I'm going to do the same, extend it up to the master cylinder.

I just changed the cabin filter on my new to me 2011 SHO. Think it probably could have gone a few more years to be honest. Maybe I was being frivolous. Wet dog smell is now gone from interior. This thing is starting to look/smell less hoopty. I unclipped filter and stuff literally started dumping out. This thing was not given much love.

I am going to be swapping out ptu fluid and rear differential next. After that I am going to tune it. Very excited to see what a good tune does, mostly for the hopefully better transmission shift response.

This car is so quiet and laid back in the interior. It's not screaming. It's just up and GOING when you hit the gas. I love this car.

Dealer only went surface deep on mine and the PO must've had a white shaggy dog, I pulled my filter and it was completely matted with white fur, same under the rear seat and in between all the dash and console trim parts. Treat these things right and they'll treat you right.

Week 1 of back to full service. Intermittent oil pressure warning. Only happens momentarily at idle after its completely warmed up. Oil has a heavy gas odor, is it possible the oil has started to break down from all the sitting? I know gas in the oil isn't that big of a deal with these cars, it happens. But its not good to leave it in there either, I've put maybe 200 miles on the car in the last 3 months, wondering if that's enough time for things to react and break down.

This seemingly minor incident that I was not at fault for somehow landed the blame on me to the tune of $1000 deductible and a nice 160 **** you ticket while the girl that failed to yield got off with nothing. SHO is back on the shelf, just spent 2k on dental work plus 2k on furniture

Aw ****! Sorry to hear about that man! Looks minor. Bumper cover headlight fender and hood possibly. Total bs that the other person got away with nothing! How infuriating. Its ironic because thats how my car was hit only on the opposite side before it landed in my ownership. Goodluck on the rebuild. Sweet color too.

Thank you, a former SHO owner complimented the color as well while we were waiting on the police. We got to talking and it turns out he's me, same name, hair color, balding, taste in cars, but he moved on to a slick jaguar XF R which i intentionally parked next to. Still sulking but I'm fighting the ticket and then working on the plan to get her fixed. Hood needed resprayed anyway

Had a somewhat sunny day so it was time to try and hide the curb rash of previous owner

First time trying plastidip. Used a drill and 80 grit flapper to smooth out the gouges. Could have gone more but these were BAD and deep. Then went to 400 and smoothed them out. Meguiars wheel cleaner, then brush to agitate and rinsed with pressure washer. Used leaf blower to dry it off mostly and then micro fiber towels to dry more.

Threw 4 cans of plastidip in a bucket of hot water while I was doing this and then layered 5 or 6 coats, waiting 20-30mins between each. I didn't do a perfect job but it certainly looks better than it did in my opinion.

For 50$ I ain't mad at it. I could have sanded better in spots to smooth it out. Next time!
