What did I do today? Nothing, just left the poor SHO on ice. I’ll probably remote start it (from the house) later just to get the juices flowing.

Over the hills and through the woods to grandmothers house we go tomorrow!

Merry Christmas SHO brothers!
We are not that far apart!

I'm in Newton County.

We just had that "boom cyclone" winter storm. As always I drove the SHO over the Super Duty...

She did fantastic but snow packing again has the chassis dragging with several hundred pounds of snow.

Several high speed passes the entire last few days.

Not necessarily today but over the past week: both CV axles (passenger side updated to two piece), 4 hubs/wheel bearings, front struts, rear shocks, H&R springs, inner/outer tie rods, sway bar end links, driver rear door lock actuator, and to top it all off, a new starter after it wouldn't start when the rest of the work was complete. Took for alignment and all is right in the world.

Sounds miserable.

That's what I thought when I realized the pile of parts and the costs. Once I got into it, everything came apart and went back together quite well; the benefits of seeing snow three times in 12 years.

The biggest hassle was realizing that I needed the two-piece passenger side CV Axle, breaking an upper strut mount bolt, diagnosing the starter, and waiting for all three to show up. I would have taken much more time if it weren't for this and other forums. Doing my alignment with 2 gallons of coolant, a fishing line, and a ruler proved interesting but was close enough that I could drive it to Firestone with minimal pulling.

Used a walnut shell media blaster to clean the back of my intake valves this past week. Decided I would clean them since my car has 112,000 miles on her now. Photo is one of the worst cylinders. Really was not all that bad considering the mileage.

No air/oil separator ever on the car but do have methanol injection maybe the past 20,000 miles.

looks good! I have had meth for about 50k miles and just turned 99992.9 miles. I was surprised not as much build up on your valves but I should look at mine.

Finally managed to get something in the ol’ catch can. Had a smoothed over layer of sludge, like how a brand new jar of peanut butter looks when you open it, but not a lot of liquid like some of you get. There was a tiny bit under the “skin” but I had To scrape with a flathead so it all got mixed up.

Not much for ~9k miles, but at least it’s not on the back of my valves. I stuck a scope down the map sensor hole on the intake and had a look see. The ones I could get a shot of didn’t look bad, but nevertheless walnuts are in their near future.

Also got some new shoes on her Thursday. Stuck with the Michelins. Cleaned off underneath after we had all that snow (salt) and sprayed everything down with some of that amsoil rust proofing spray. Remembered it when I ordered fluids last and figured I’d give it a shot. I’m honestly surprised at the near complete absence of rust and corrosion on this car despite 5 years in the rust belt. I’d like to keep it that way.
