Ok, so after an afternoon of wrenching, and snapping stuff, I come to realize, every nut has red locktite all in them. ****, I couldn't even break the o2 sensors loose.

So, blow torch it is, I guess? Is this normal?

PS...thanks, guys! It is the correct pipes, got it sorted. But good god, getting the OE stuff out is busting my balls...bad. Suspension was a cake walk compared to this.

Looking back it’s easy to say the downpipes were no big deal but yeah it’s a lot of work. Any exhaust work sucks and is always a pain in the D. Especially living through salty winters. Use my motto in the heat of the battle, someday you’ll just be a guy who has this done.

On the upper part of the DPs...the triangular ****** end...which typically mates to the header...what happens if one of those bolts/studs snap off while trying to remove the nut?

Hasn't happened, and I'm done for the day...next day off I will hit them with a torch, then splash water on them...

But...what if they do snap? What's the (likely heinous) process to fix/replace those?

Well I talked to them on the phone again today sounds like nobody knows what the **** they're doing over there at that shop. I'll find out at the end of the day if I get a refund for a new motor so on that note anybody know where I can pick up a new reman long block for our cars cuz I've been looking around and I can't find shit.

There should be remans out there. What is the budget? I mean the box parts stores sell special order remans from different companies. There are reman companies that might sell to you or a garage of your choice (like jasper used to). Ford itself may have offerings.

Outside of the struggle to get the broke stud out, you can get new studs and nuts for them. Which in hindsight, probably isn’t a bad idea.

**** its probably suggested. With all the heat cycling done to the bolts, you are better off purchasing new. Then you don’t have to worry if you snap the bolts.

Also, to save yourself some time and anger, look for a drill that is carbide, not high speed steel or any other “coated in titanium” B.S. . You can’t cut steel with steel...

Lastly, if you are going to drill out a bolt, find out the core diameter and go a hair over that for your drill bit size.

Getting stuck on stupid things. Had to buy new hose clamp pliers for lower radiator hose. Now fighting with plastic clips on fan wiring harness. That 15 minute installation video where everything goes smoothly makes me feel ********.

yes I have a lot of speed holes in my radiator shroud where the plastic clips broke...

I bought a bunch of the push clips from Ford after I installed mine.

Thanks, I feel better. I have one clip left to remove. It connects the fan to the lower coolant line (i think). I might have to break that one. I've only broken two or three clips in the whole process, but I spent a lot of time fighting with little things. Just getting the tube off the throttle body took me like 20 minutes. The car has had 70,000 miles to slowly bond all of these things together, and I've found that I am a little too gentle with some of these things. After 10 minutes of being a bitch, I finally give it a real go and then I make some progress.

I've taken the front bumper cover off a few times before, so I came into this with a bit of optimism.


Out of curiosity, will the car drive normally with the stock tune and the intercooler installed, or will I throw some code? I would like to never do this install again.

My hands look like I got attacked by a cat.
