That sucks, but bold move tapping the block bro, I hope it worked out!

Meh, it’s only .04” of material... .020” a side shouldn’t make any difference! However, helicoils would be the best solution. They allow steel threads in an aluminum casting, super awesome.

Absolutely true. I'm pretty confident in the integrity of the tapped holes and studs. However, your helicoil suggestion has me tempted. But since the block has had the mains align honed as is and cleaned, I'm probably going to leave it.

Maybe just keep it in the back of your mind. Aluminum sucks when it comes to threads compared to steel. The material stretches and the torque specs are so low. What boost pressure are you planning to run?
I used to machine armor plating for the belly of military hummers out of aluminum, every single hole had a helicoil in it.
Just my two cents, regardless of the tapped holes situation, I’m thrilled to see what you do with your SHO!

I finally got my Gearhead intercooler last week, so I installed it and a stack of other parts I had waiting to go in at the same time. Including, ceramic coated PPE downpipes with high flow cats, EPP Intake and hotpipes, transmission mount, and topped it off with a Gearhead tune.20200605 185242 20200605 185140

Finally got around to tucking all the wiring for the meth controller, no more rats nest in the drivers footwell! Now to figure out why the controller and pump stay on 24/7 even though all the wiring is correct. Go figure!

Thanks you ecoboost_xsport for the metal dowels they fit perfectly in the throttle body work just like you said they would. Just shaving little more on the inside to match the throttle body.

Decided to take a page out of the @Jordan_R playbook and shed some weight... come on 10s!

But for real, if you get excessive static or loss of sound in the stereo, swap out the audio control module (ACM) and you're good to go. Great time to swap out for Sync 3 as well since you have to remove the screen and APIM to access.

Back in business!

so go 3/4 the way done with the GH turbo's yesterday. the back turbo is a PITA! I took Jordan's advice and pulled the R half shaft. you don't have to pull the stub shaft as it comes out the wheel well. did change the ptu fluid why i was there.

After two years of ownership and 30,000 miles I finally took the plunge and ordered a tune from Gearhead along with the EPP intake. I've really loved driving my SHO but its time making things a bit more exciting.

It took longer than I wanted but I'm excited to move my SHO up on the priority list. Next for me is finally getting around to copying BPD's A-Pillar gauge mounts. I guess everyone's tax return and Trump bucks got the community frisky for the GH Intercooler so I'm in the back of the line for that.

I'm looking forward to being more active on here now, seems like there's some serious progress going on for the platform and knowledge to soak up.

Got the car aligned yesterday. So they found steering rack bolts loose!?!?!? Thanks a lot Na*** Automotive who aligned it last year. It did seem a bit finicky....and with getting it out of whack with everything I did really brought that fact to light.....well now my steering rack is tight again!!!!!! Alignment is Gucci.

On the way home ...still on my 16 psi (see what this does with your new mods) tune file from Brad who still hasn't given me any feedback...I desided to romp on it when I saw a sweet 370Z driving. He was cruising, I caught up to him, did some cruising next to each other, I pulled in front of him...did a 45-100 pull and wow does she move out! I had to hit the brakes pretty good and was able to make the next green light and don't I see the 370Z making his way towards me ...from way back. He pulls up next to me at the next red light, double lane left hand turn only and I see hes telling me to roll my window down. He says, "That car is ******* sick! You just shot flames like this big (motioning with his hands about a foot) out of your exhaust"! I was like really???????? Yeah!!!! But boy was his car mean as **** too, all black, clean, slammed, big old wide wheels and gloss black, deep dish, aero kit of some sort. I was like your car is sick man! He gave me the website of some cool lug nuts he had on his...I'm going to order them LOL! I was like man I just got it back on the road, still need to dial it in...he was like its sick man!

So my buddy had brought me to my car and followed me home, I left my truck at his house. I get in. I'm like dude said I spit flames? He said, "Dude you did. Your car looked like you kicked a dog in the ass. It just squated down and looked like it stayed that way! When you floor it it backfired and smoke and flame came out of it. The car next to you put their hands up...I think you scared them".

I mean I was driving...so didn't see it. But to hear what that 370Z owner said and my buddy......made me a real proud SHO owner
