Just some information on the SHOrty Shifter.

The kit I sell is made up of the following parts:
1) 3.5"X3.5"X2.5" aluminum spacer block
2) steel ball end shifter rod
3) 4 longer machine screws
4) steel collar to attach the shifter handle after it is cut down
PARTS

The steel-ball-end-shifter-rod must be welded to the original shifter after removing the plastic ball cast into the rod. The aluminum spacer will move the pivoting point up 2.5" higher on the shifter, and after shortening the shifter handle about the same amount (2.5"), the distance between the shifts will be greatly reduced .
NEWSHORTSHIFT5

You will have to enlarge the hole in the floorpan, along with the inner and lower shifter box mounting brackets in order to fit the aluminum shifter spacer block.
FLOORPAN

The shifter will now drop from the inside of your car along with the spacer block and the 4 longer metric screws included.
FLOORPAN2

Now you can cut the shifter handle to your desired length, and attach the it back on the shifter with the steel collar provided. You can play with the rotation of the handle to move the shifter **** closer, and when it is at the desired angle, tighten the 4 set screws to hold the handle in place.
SHOrty

The shifter is in 1st gear. The measuring tape show the distance at 7 1/2" at the back end of the shift ****.
FIRSTGEAR

The shifter is now in 2nd gear, and the measuring tape is at 9 3/4" at the back end of the shifter handle.
SECONDGEAR

Total motion is 2 1/4 inches. These shifts are short.

If I did not have to buy tabs for the SHO AND my Truck I would buy one right now.

If anybody needs the instructions to install the SHOrt Shifter, I can send them to you through your email.

You should be able to install the SHOrty Shifter by looking at the photos posted here. It is very straightforward once you cut the hole in the floorpan and the shifter brackets.

Actually, I will post the instructions on the forum.

mad props on this shifter. I got one installed last year when I had my motor swapped over, and the throws are nice'n tight.

I'm going to second something here....make sure you weld that ball and shaft :laugh_ti: to the lower part of the shifter....it gets ugly if you don't.

Otherwise, high quality piece that makes shifting fun!!!
