How does it feel shifting? My stock one is crap I feel the "gates" I think they are in between gears and I think that it is in the next gear and it is not. Like a double click for each gear. My other three manual tranny vehicles have directly mounted shifters to the trans no linkage so maybe it is just me.

SlowSho21, do you have a rod or cable shifter in your car?

If you have a rod shifter, the rubber bushing and clevis pin may be worn out, and that could be the reason you are having problems finding the gates.

I make a Delrin bushing and an overzised pin that will tighten your shifting tremendously:

The SHOrty Shifter will shorten the throws, but it will not tighten up your sloppy shifter rod.

I have both products in stock right now. The combination of these items will make the MTX tranny feel as if it is under the shifter as opposed to being 4 feet away.

I am out of them right now, and I will be pretty busy for the next couple of weeks.

But as soon as I get finished with these other projects, I will get some done.

I should have several in about 30 days.

I have been pretty busy this month (which is good), but I plan to get back to the shop as soon as I have a couple of days free. It should be soon.

You will get used to it MADDOG11. I had the same problem with neutral when I first installed mine. I have the SHOrt Shifter, but they are very similar.

Or will you be making more? Tax season is right around the corner and this would be a great way to spend that money....

The cutting and welding is a little out of my league at the moment... Would you consider taking cores and shipping back modded shifters? I can enlarge the hole in the floor without a problem.

cutting's not that difficult at all as long as you're handy with a hacksaw. you can take it to a muffler shop and they'll weld it up for you for around 20.

SuperHO is right. You need to cut, at least, 2 1/2 in from the center of the handle to bring the shifter back to its original height. Then you put the handle back together with the collar.

A muffler shop could do the work for you easily, both the welding and the cutting.

The hard part will be cutting the inner and lower shifter brackets to fit the aluminum body through the floor pan.

If you cannot do it yourself, pull both brackets out and send them to me. I charge $25.00 to cut them in my milling machine and $10.00 to ship it back.

Cutting the actual floor pan is very easy once you get the brackets back. You can use them as a template.

Of course, the SHOrty Shifter kit was intended to be installed by do it yourselfers. It is not a dificult project if you have some basic tools.
