I am in the same boat with KIA. However an Aston Martin DBS........
When you get one let me know, I have a helmet and can be great ballast for NA clockwise tracks. Jason making a Honda track missle is proof.
I trust Kia and honestly anyone of them as much as I trust Hyundai from the late’80s Excell ?and Scoupe, ahh yes, my stupid ex girlfriends.
It’s like buying an appliance at this point. Ask yourself who will be around in 10 years to support your desires.
We would find one, pull the top of the window back unlock the door, get in and party/chill/slap and tickle for three or four hours, they were such pieces of crap .
They stepped up but.....
Blue oval for me, sometimes it has 6 stars in the middle. Ron, Thank You again, a platform that has support is so much fun.
Kia gonna be there, maybe.
Don’t buy a Harley built on a Monday after a Packers loss. I hear good and bad about everything.

If you're a track guy why would you handicap yourself with a stick? Modern automatics beat manuals in every way.

No offense, but if you don't understand why I like a manual, or why if I buy a new Mustang GT with the PP2 Package, and I gladly get it with the "slower" 6-speed, I can't explain it to you. My cars are daily drivers. Driving an automatic, on a daily basis, is the most boring exercise for anyone claiming to be a car enthusiast.

And don't give me the ******** excuse about "rush hour traffic". Exactly what does you left leg do in traffic?

Automatics on a track are boring. It's why I dumped the new 99 SHO I bought after 2 years. Plus, the old 4-speed automatic in the Gen 2-3 was useless for track work.

Kia has been at the top of the JD Powers Initial Quality and 3-year Quality lists for a few years now. Pardon my French, but those of you repeating ******** about Hyundai/Kia from 20 years ago are ignorant motherforkers.

For as much as I like Ford, Ford could learn a lot from Hyundai/Kia.

If Kia had a 6-speed in the V6 TT Stinger, I would already own one.

No thanks to sticks for rush traffic around here :) Automatics are not ideal either, but with the erratic behavior of drivers around here, make for quicker reaction times.

This line would have been cool maybe 15 years ago, I had a 13 optima SXL that was an amazing car, unfortunately I had my eye on a STI for a long time and traded into that because I wanted AWD and a manual. To this day I would say the KIA is probably in my top 3 best cars I've owned, tons of luxury and easy on the wallet. I realize an optima is not a stinger but from my experience, KIA is nothing to dismiss these days.

My line of thinking is timeless. Buy American.

To me, KIA is a lot like LG and Samsung. They make nice looking appliances but they only last about 7 years and its time for a replacement.

Just because I'm Canadian, doesn't mean I give blind alliance to the crappy products anyone in Canada might build or manufacture. That's about as stupid as stupid gets. I buy what's quality because that's what I need if I want my paycheck to keep my head above water. Those who think that a Ford product is better quality than a Hyundai or Kia, are not paying very close attention to what's going on in the automotive industry. A 1982 Hyundai Pony should not be your benchmark for that brand, anymore than a 1982 Ford Granada should. Kia and Hyundai are now approx 3 and 4th for CR's best fit and finish/quality of materials and several other categories....and has been for years. I'll also say that LG and Samsung appliances and TV's get the best reviews etc. My 75" Samsung is still going strong after 10 years of being on 18 hours a day EVERY day (my daughter is disabled and spends a lot of her day in front of that TV).

When I traded in my Lexus for the SHO, I did it with a lot of concern for future reliability. I have had many Ford's before and swore I'd never do it again. If it wasn't for the fact that the SHO is one of the few performance vehicles I could tow 4 down behind my moho, I would have got the Stinger. Factor in the 10 year warranty and it's a no brainer....and that's 3 years longer than the comment about the car lasting 7 years. FWIW, my brothers 2011 Elantra has NEVER been in the shop, nor has my niece's. Co-workers Tucson and another's Santa Fe as well. My SHO? well, so far so good. Other than CAC leaks in the first 9k miles, it's been great. I now have 13k miles and a great and lengthy warranty, that (unlike Hyundai or KIA), Ford did not have enough confidence to give me for free and charged me 1800 dollars for. I'm hoping for great things reliability-wise from my SHO, but if track records are any indicator (my previous F350 diesel, E450 V10 Van, 5.0 Ford Mustang, Ford Taurus etc), I'm suspecting that I may be disappointed. But HEY! It's got a "1" in the first digit of the vin, so there's that....

Trust me. Samsung has major issues. I had a 55" LCD that died 4 times in the 1st 5 years triggering my Lemon Law clause of my extended warranty. I had a $2000 Samsung Fridge that died after 8 years. The LG Linear Compressors are well known to fail within 5 years due to low quality manufacturing. Much better manufacturing is required for a compressor that runs 100% of the time 24/7. Samsung front loading washers are known to fail in < 5 years due to a zinc washer tub support bar that corrodes and fails due to being in contact with the stainless steel washer tub. I could go on and on about Samsung and LG. I have not driven a Kia. Maybe they are better. But at 50k I'll stick with my 30k SHO.

Cars are cars some are gonna last longer than another. There’s lemons in all of the manufacturers. None are better than any other in my opinion , I’ve seen all of them have minor to major issues all of them. So u buy what u like and live with it. I think CR is way bias towards certain cars and items anyway don’t even care what they say anymore.i work for a dealership and we have some stingers there they look ok definilty wanna drive one. Still love my sho though. Oh yeah my buddy has a 04 town car with over 600 thousand miles on it. It’s only a ford though. I would own a Kia I like the K 900 but I like other cars better. Just see where I’m goin with this. To each his own !

I was able to line up with a stinger a few times at the track a couple of weeks ago. He claimed his was stock; I've got a 93 tune, cai, tstat & 3 bar. It's only an 1/8 mile track. I was running 8.1-8.5s all night. He ran 8.2-9.0. I was impressed if he was in fact stock.

Kia might be great for initial quality, but look at their long term quality. How many Kias do you see on the road that are 10 years old that have not had any major issues? Now take a look at Toyota. There are still are still a ton of 2nd Gen Camry cars (1987-1991) still rolling around today! How many Hyundais/Kias do you see rolling around from that era? Yes they have improved over the years, but companies like Toyota and Lexus are still worlds apart regardless of long term quality. Most initial quality for new vehicles is for infotainment systems anyway. Every car maker makes some lemons too, even Lexus!

I would agree. I still hear folks say that all American cars are crap and all they will ever buy is a Honda or Toyota, etc. I think they are uninformed and living in the past. I believe that 3-year quality awards say a lot about what one can expect. And coupled with a 10-year drivetrain warranty, should instill a great deal of confidence.

A GT1 (what I'd want) with AWD is going to run around 50K out the door and is unlikely to have the rear seat comfort or ride comfort of a SHO. I suspect I would be telling people I had a "Stinger" and leaving off the "Kia" part though. LOL

Still think I'd rather have a lightly used SHO for $30K, accepting that it is heavier and will not win any handling awards. For straight line acceleration I prefer my Shelby. In retrospect, that was probably a Stinger I put the whoop ass on a week ago. At the time I did not recognize what it was. Did seem a bit peppier than the usual foreign cars that attempt to egg me on.

I guess my thoughts are more about a company making cheap crap and selling to the lemmings. Hyundai/Kia have stepped up and all but I don't forgive that easily.
As far as buy American, it was 10 years ago more American parts were on a Honda Odyssey than a Mustang. I like to see they are built here and who's earning the profit but loyalty does not buy food and shelter for my family.
The new bodywork on the Sonata shows they snipped designers from Bentley etc. look more Mercedes like every day.

If I am going to spend finance 50k for a car....I am going to drop 20k down, and buy a 2010 Aston Martin DBS. Payments will be the same, and I will have way more fun in an Aston.

Big stupid looking guy, rocking a tuxedo t-shirt, blasting the James Bond theme in a DBS everywhere he goes........will be epic.

Perhaps the wife and I have gotten old and soft but everytime we have to drive a Kia, rental or whatever, we really notice it just feels cheap. Granted we are both used to higher end cars that are fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. The wife drives a Acadia Denali and I've driven 2 SHO's over the last 7 years.

I liked the 2017 Sonata I had as a rental, what it needed was better seating, but was a good vehicle overall.
