I've long been a Chevy guy. ****, I still am one. Camaro > mustang. LT > Windsor. LS > ...pretty much everything, lol.

Corvette > GT? Jury is out on that, but I will say, 80k for a Z06 is a lot more car than you can get from anyone else, for 80k.

But.

That mustang is sexy as ****. Love the new body style, I'd like to see a wide body rear, fender flares and yuge rear tires, a la Porsche GT3.
In my opinion the only one up Chevy has on Ford is the consistent presence of larger engines. But they need that to move the heavier vehicles to compete with their blue oval counterparts. If I was made of money, I might drive a Chevy but I'm more of a value shopper.

When I bought my SHO, my criteria was 4 doors and power, which narrowed my search to a G8, SS, or SHO. The SHO seemed more luxurious and it's AWD. And the price tag of a used SHO was consistently $10K less than a Chevy SS.

I like to dream of owning a 700+ HP street monster and window shop Hellcats and the like. But then I wake up and realize if I had $80K to spend on a toy I'd ultimately buy a new GT Mustang and supercharge it. I could use the remaining $30-40K on styling, sound, etc.

The new Corvette interior is about as much GM Flava Flav!!! As I can handle bleeeeeeeeechhhh!
Also the Corvette isn't even on the same tier as the GT, unless you are talking about the Ford GT500.
Ah, the infamous Chevy interiors! On my 76 vette, there is cardboard used on the interior. Swear to god. Cardboard.

The NEW ford GT outshines the vette...for now. Remember, the C8s are mid engine, now. So, they will make a Z06 and ZR1 version. And I'd look for the ZR1 to smoke the GT. Plus, the new GT is a half million dollar+ car. The previous gen GT, however...was competitive with the 6th gen Z06. And the vette was a solid 30 grand less.

Not that id ever be able to own any of those cars. Best I could swing for would be a C6 grand sport, I'd wager. But I gotta be honest...I think I'd take that lovely new stang over the grand sport, despite the grand sport being (in my very humble opinion) the "better" car. 50/50 weight distro, fully independent suspension, 6 speed manual, 3,000 lbs, 6.2 liter aluminum ls3, begging for boost.

But I'll stick with the SHO for now. Till I'm "done" with it, or get bored with it.

Drive a coyote and you might change your mind. Tons of fun.

Personally I would take a gt500 over a z06 but that’s just my personal bias on what I like and not from a performance standpoint

I am biased AF and admit that straight up. I love my s550 though

That's a beautifull car. My coworker drives a black, 2016 mustang GT, manual trans. When I got the SHO, I asked her if she wanted to trade, lol.

My mindset as well. But...I would LOVE an LS2 GTO. But alas, they are solidly in the 20k range still.

The definitely built a border wall in the new Corvette interior. They will need another government bailout to compete with the GT.

Actually, they're sold out. Demand was so high, even before they were being made, something like the first 80,000 made were already bought.

So they will pay back the previous bailout? Also didn't they only make 3000 before covid-19? In other news Corvette is showing glaring Ferrari plagiarism. I'd pick the gt500 or gt350 over Corvette any and every day. **** just the interior is reason enough for me. And the exhaust sounds? Please.
I'd take a Corvette if it was free, take it straight in for a trade in.

They better bring a supercharged 7.0 to compete with Ford's 3.5TT.

Speculation is, its going to be a hybrid for the ZR1, with 900hp on tap.

We'll see.

Well knowing GM, we can expect this in 5years? If it survives the prototype R&D and marketing.

You seem like you do your research.
So I'd bet you know about the 1400hp Cobra Jet electric mustang... Right?
I'd bet Ford beats them with a full electric truck and a hybrid mustang before we see the Zr1.

Yeah, it'll be a while. First, they gotta build enough base corvettes. Then, in 2 years or so, they gotta send out the Z06. Then, a couple years after that...ZR1.

And yes, I've read about the electric mustang. All I thought was...it better be AWD.

I'd take a Corvette quick.

I like Cadillac and Lincoln alike for different reasons - I've owned 3 Cadillacs, still have one, and 2 Lincolns, this being my second. When it's time for a sports car, I'm stuck on that Vette. I didn't used to like Mustangs at all, but these new Mustangs are beautiful. However, the Vette has always been beautiful, and on top of that, a better car.

I've vowed to only do American luxury and sports cars, so my ideal projects are some custom Caddies, some custom Lincolns, maybe a Hellcat-swapped 300, and a c8 or c7. But ...

... since the Vette would be a weekend car, I would struggle to not look at a older Ferrari. I think I would choose the Vette because it's better and faster, but ... same price range for a 10-15 year older Ferrari.

And Ferraris are beautiful.

This guy forgets the 80s vettes....how could he? They were so bad they are rarely seen today. Probably sold for scrap. The only saving grace for the Vette is the LS motor. Which I hate to say it... But the Camaro wears it better, at least so far. I'm still confused to why GM needs twice the engine to compete. Also are they ever going to reclaim that 61% share the US government owns? Taxpayers wanna know.

They need twice the engine because they are staying Americana. Push Rod V8's are still the American go to. Until you see NHRA or NASCAR switch to over head cam designs, you will not see a change.

I love the LS/LT (new) motors. They make great power and they sounds amazing. An LSX 376 with some whirly birds run through some Magnaflow mufflers......yeah buddy. However, I am in a time of my life and having owned so many push rod engines, I want to drive and work on different more "exotic" engines.

I am not a fan of the new C8. I think GM completely ruined the spirit of the car.

Nope. I thought about that one. I like the way that Vette looks more than I like the Fox-body. I don't actually like either, but picking the worse of the bad ... eh.

I do admit that they didn't age well, and the Fox did, and if I were buying one now, I'd pick the Fox.

But really, comparing the Mustang and the Vette is apples and Oranges. The Vette and the Viper share a class. The Mustang and the Camaro share a class. I liked the 80s Camaros more too. I didn't, and still don't, like the spaceship looking ones of the 90s at all, but I do kinda like the New Edge Mustangs.

The new Corvette is about as un-American as it gets. They need new blood in the R&D department... If they even still have one.

Yeah, it is a divisive change, but I absolutely love that thing.
