Nope. I thought about that one. I like the way that Vette looks more than I like the Fox-body. I don't actually like either, but picking the worse of the bad ... eh.

I do admit that they didn't age well, and the Fox did, and if I were buying one now, I'd pick the Fox.

But really, comparing the Mustang and the Vette is apples and Oranges. The Vette and the Viper share a class. The Mustang and the Camaro share a class. I liked the 80s Camaros more too. I didn't, and still don't, like the spaceship looking ones of the 90s at all, but I do kinda like the New Edge Mustangs.

Unfortunately the mustang is closer to the Corvette, all you do is tick the gt350r box and "what Corvette?"

I know Chevy fans want the Corvette to be a supercar......but it never will be unless GM spends more taxpayers money! I give them permission to develop a new Corvette using more government bailout money but only if they return to the 60s/70s way of
Thinking....or they could always go full exotic similar to the Ford powered Koenigsegg.

The new Corvette is about as un-American as it gets. They need new blood in the R&D department... If they even still have one.

I didn't say the C8 is American. I was saying the push rod v8 was American. I agree. I dont like the C8 at all. It looks like a the fatter American version of the McLaren.....lol.

Nailed it.
I just looked it up and they are estimating 2025 at the earliest for the high end Vette of this generation.....wow.

This guy forgets the 80s vettes....how could he? They were so bad they are rarely seen today. Probably sold for scrap. The only saving grace for the Vette is the LS motor. Which I hate to say it... But the Camaro wears it better, at least so far. I'm still confused to why GM needs twice the engine to compete. Also are they ever going to reclaim that 61% share the US government owns? Taxpayers wanna know.
I haven't forgotten.

That's black betty. And yeah, it started as just about one of the slowest cars I've ever driven. Unless you mean the 4th gen corvettes of the 80's. At which point...yeah. Most of those sucked. But then, so did the mustang...or dare I mention...mustang I Is, lol.

As for the 5.7/6.0/6.2. Overhead valve has its advantages. For instance, the 350 in black betty is SMALLER than the v6 in the SHO. Which is why everyone wants one for their car. Cuz it'll fit. Less energy efficient design, yes. But, easier to work on, cheaper to fix, and when things fail, it tends to be less catastrophic. However, overhead cam makes more power, all day, every day. Simple physics.

As for the camaro? Meh. I'd rather have one of those sexy new stangs, way before the camaro.

They need twice the engine because they are staying Americana. Push Rod V8's are still the American go to. Until you see NHRA or NASCAR switch to over head cam designs, you will not see a change.

I love the LS/LT (new) motors. They make great power and they sounds amazing. An LSX 376 with some whirly birds run through some Magnaflow mufflers......yeah buddy. However, I am in a time of my life and having owned so many push rod engines, I want to drive and work on different more "exotic" engines.

I am not a fan of the new C8. I think GM completely ruined the spirit of the car.
I'm on the fence about the new vette. Haven't made up my mind. The soul of the car is, a proper sports car, capable in a road race, ready to throw down on cars twice its price, affordable to the masses...mostly. But Duntov, the father of the corvette...always wanted it to be mid engine.

I'm torn on it.

I dislike the Camaro, I was just saying it wears the Chevy engine better, just check the HP.

I agree about the 350 being used in everything....but that's gonna be the future of the Ecoboost as well.

Yeah the 80s mustangs sucked, but mustang is the true Nemesis of the Corvette.
people put Corvette on a pedestal, they want it to be a hero, it doesn't even come close....Its more of a gimmick that hopes you don't mind being sold out and tricked.
honestly the Viper was a better shot at taking down super cars if you want bang for your buck.... But you still get a turd interior, although not polished like GM.
My uncle had a Viper and I will never forget the sidepipe sound.

Twice the price? Nope. Hi Porsche! Hi Camaro zl1, hi Nissan, hi Mercedes, hi Lexus, hi gt350r, hi gt500.....

Affordable, for a midengine car, yes.

Absolutely correct on Zora

Buy one if you don't like your passenger

Since were on a FORD Taurus forum, I’m gonna be the guy. Chevy sucks! And dumping your cheep trash 350’s in Fords is a disgrace. ...In my opinion.

Sorry, carry on.

That is why LS swap fox body Mustangs lol. They are called Herotics. Ford makes it, Chevy shakes it.

Like your pic. I also had a C3. 1976 with 180hp! Took me 5 years to quicken it up but it ended up in Car Craft mag.

Not just Mustangs, but all 80's cars sucked.
Years back we had a Viper rent a car in Vegas. Burned my leg more than once on the side pipes.

Honestly, I knew I was starting trouble by showing my support for Chevy in a ford forum, lol. But I've always been a fan of Chevy engines.

As for complete car? Porsche.

Accept no substitute.

I think you meant to say...ALMOST all 80s cars sucked.

Buick grand national
Mercedes 190 evolution
Dodge omni glh

But yeah...the 80s was a bad decade. For lots of thing. Clothes, hair, politics, cars, even comic books sucked in the 80s.

The cartoons rocked, though!

Mines also a 76. Trying to get it sold, but the market for a heavily modified, race prepped C3 with a bad interior and paint, and in need of a new wiring harness...is quite small.

Yep, you're right. I forgot I had an 1989 sho that was a lot of fun and didn't suck.
