shift linkage failure

I recently lost all my gears in mt 93 sho. It is an atx/mtx swap. I found what happened was the bolt on the shift rod loosened up and fell out. Since I couldnt find it I used a bolt that a friend who lived nearby had to limp it home with. When I get home, I realized the bolt i used is not going to cut it and am not sure where to find this part. Any help would be great.

Are you speaking of the stabilizer rod bolt?
Or the imperial tie fighter bolt?

I found the factory stabilizer rod bolt a bit short,I was able to obtain a slightly longer one from a good local hardware store.

If it's the long bolt check to make sure that the boss in the transmission is not stripped. That's a common failure point.

A longer bolt will help if some of the threads are stripped also.

I believe the threads are stripped all the way through and the rubber bushing on the spacer is also shot and I have been having a really hard time finding a new bushing. Any more help would be great.

SHOsource.com has the bushing you need.
If the threads are stripped all the way back you have two realistic options.

1. Drill and tap for a larger diameter bolt
2. swap transmissions

Again,I do advise sourcing a longer bolt after you do the repair though.

+1 on #1.

Drill and tap for the next larger sized bolt is by far your best chance at the least expensive repair. A local machine shop will be your best bet for the tools if you don't have a ready source.

Cool, I got the part ordered at shosource and am gonna borrow a friends tap set. Thanks for the help.

I put a helicoil in mine just a few weeks ago. I also used a 150mm long threaded stud with two nuts (one as a jam nut) to hold everything together.
