Guys,

I just got a service engine soon light. I got the code pulled and it gives P1518, which looking on the v8sho website says that this is Intake Manifold Runner Control stuck open.

Apparently this could be down to a bunch of things such as the cable fraying or the unit going bad.

Does anyone know anymore about this? Is it okay if I carry on driving for a bit?

Thanks,

Rav.

Well if this Intake Manifold Runner Control is the secondary butterfly valves it will probably be fine to keep driving it. Is there a loss in lower rpm power before the secondarys would normally open?

I wish I knew more about the V8s so I could help you, but I'm sure others will give their input.

I would just wire it open and disconnect the electrical connector at the IMRC deactivation motor until the next meet or whenever you have time to clean out the lower intake.

Nik,

Do you think that I should try and go about trying to source another IMRC or is it something that can just be clean up/repaired?

Thanks,

Rav
