Ford did a really good job. Rockauto or Tasca can probably get you fixed up with a great cold air box to replace that ...."thing"....

This is custom only for the air box I make. I will be making some of these as a kits when I get relocated.
Oh ok, the box kinda looks like the epp dual feed intake so I thought you just made a top for it. Do you think your top would fit that intake box?

No.. the whole box is made out of 1/4" ABC plastic. It's actually a little bigger than a Epp box it extends so there's no gaps into the engine bay. I can look to see if I can retrofit a cover for the Epp air box cuz I do have one here give me a few weeks and I'll see what I can do

Ok, cool. No rush, I rather have an enclosed air box instead of doing the whole weatherstripping thing.

@Nova Okay I had time today and stuck that EPP air box in. I can make a top for this box but you will not get a complete seal from the engine bay with the EPP air box. This is the reason why I made a custom airbox 4 months ago. I have a 1/4" plexiglass I can use but don't know if it's too thick for your box. The box I got last month is so thin 1/8" you could literally take your fingers and bend it into a different shape. The box I work with 4 months ago that I borrow from somebody was much thicker so it seems like they went with a cheaper material and sold it for the same price kind of messed up.
But then after a while I figure out a method for making it. It'll fit any box thickness so yes I can make your air box lid.

Here's how short their airbox is so cannot be completely sealed from the engine bay. The gap between the Box Inlet and the car scoop inlet losing about 6% of the air going into the engine bay. I put a white cardboard so you can see the white part is the engine bay .IMG 0998

I see what you're talking about not being completely sealed off but at least having the top sealed off from the engine bay is better than not right?

I'll have to go out to my car to measure the thickness of my airbox.

When I get out I got to the hardware store pick up some materials so that way if anybody else wants one all they have to do a little bit of modification and it will bolt right on. So I will mock-up mine and see how it goes and get your guys's approval for making more.

@Wsho I really like your box design. Do you think your box would work with the EPP pipes and filter? Wondering if I could switch my EPP airbox for yours??

It should it's not that much of a difference mine is push more towards the fender. I'll find out in two weeks when the new engine and components are installed

Wsho, I had the same deal with my EPP box so I shifted everything to the right. Drilled a new mounting hole on the bracket on the right side and extended the left bracket to close up that inlet gap. It also required lopping off about 2" from the tube ends at the filter. Really was an oversight on their part and easily fixable. Enclosing it would be spot on.

Edit-I was under the hood today and a flat top enclosure is going to be really close to hitting the filter, it almost needs a slight dome. The other thing is all the open space in the front and left side with it not being a full box.

Update & photos::
I have a piece of plexiglass left over from my first box. i went with a different kind of material so a good first test piece.. I installed all of the connector hardware to the Box then I formed the plexiglass with the curvage of the box.. I'm going to form a plastic piece that will cover the Gap in the front from the engine bay.
