I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem...
When driving the car on the freeway at over 60MPH, usually around 70MPH I noticed that the car would frequently increase RPM by about 300 for about 5 seconds, then return to its orginal position. This is during a time when the gas pedal is kept at the same level. This also occured when the I put it in cruise control. It does it pretty frequently, like once every 2-4 minutes.

Anyone have an idea?

Air conditioning compressor is engaging and disengaging. Turn the climate control off and this should go away.

Ding!

FWIW, one of our SCT flash tuners will eliminate that issue by keeping the converter locked during A/C clutch cycling which will help extend converter life.

Thanks guys, I didn't think the compressor engaged with the heater on, I'll try driving with using the vent option.

The compressor will cycle in any setting except off, vent, or floor. The A/C system still helps remove moisture from the cabin air even when you're not actually cooling the air in the cabin.
