Rods knock at cold start up

If I let the car sit for a day and start it I hear a rattle of metal then stops within 2 seconds of start up.

The SHO has 112,000 miles and I thought it would last alot longer however, not kowing its previous history I'm sure the car has "raced" alot of races in its life time prior to my ownership.

Can the rod bearings be replaced through the oil pan AND where is the best place to purchase rod bearings besides the dealer?

Sure can. Pick up the rod bearings at NAPA. Not sure of the part number, search the forums or someone else can respond with em.

What kind of oil filter are you using? Something like the Napa Gold w/ a silicon ADBV may get oil to your engine quicker at startup.

I think this project should be accomplished this weekend because I don't like the bottom end noise in the mornings. Someone challenged me that the lifters could be making the noise at start up. I stated that the SHO engine has no lifters...am I right?

The current oil filter I am using is Fram. I'll look into what you recommended.

From those pictures, was that the first time you replaced the bearings?
