As a former mechanic for Ingersoll-Rand and a Ford dealer,I was taught that when replacing the rod bearings you should always replace the rod bolts because they've already been stretched and nolonger have their tinsel strengh left.Since I have been out of the loop for 18 years, should I or SHOuld I not, this is my first SHO and you guy's and gal,s are the Pro's so teach this old man!!

For the first bearing swap most of the SHO owners that I know have reused the bolts with no apparent problems. I guess it's up to your risk tolerance. I would reuse the bolts for the first change and replace them the second time around. That's just personal preference.

The Ford nuts and bolts are obsolete btw. So you would have to hunt down some aftermarket fasteners. I'm sure somebody knows the specs of these things...wish they would post them.
