hello guys,
well today recently i just went to throw some coolant on the coolant reservoir in my 92 SHO.. :corn: anyway after then i just started like reving up the engine like up to 2.8 K.. and what to hear :oogle:  i started to hear like a lite knocking ( tktktktktkktktktktktk) in the engine .. while the rpm droping to its normal idle the knocking went away.., allright after i jump in the car and i try to bring the rpm up to 3k, but @ 2.5 K and that's is where the knocking will be heard the most.. if you idle higher ( the knock will disipear) if you let the car ilde @ it normal rpm will go away too.. so could you guys help me what that is ?? if it is the rod bearings , what rod bearings should i get and where to get them , is there is any specifications like 0
.03 or 0.5 differneces cause i dont know and confused, and how hard and how long does it take to that job?? too

thanks all

I had 2 sets go out.
One on the original engine I had, and then a set on the replacement engine.
****** me off because the mechanic who switched out the engine told me he changes all the seals....then later told me he didn't even crack the oil pan.

Lubrication is primary! Get an oil pressure gauge on it...that will help diagnose a lot.

The sho's a famous for problems with oil pressure, so if you get an oil pressure gauge on the car you'll be able to tell if you have a problem with not enough pressure or too much.
Normally when the car idles the oil pressure is pretty low, and when running it runs higher. I don't know the specifics. I know mine ran around low and then 3-5 during acceleration.

You may also want to search the board for oil pressure or rod bearings. There's a ton of great information and a lot of REALLY knowledgeable people on this board, a lot more than I know.

Hope that helps!

I'll sho u said:
just what is the normal oil pressure for one of these engines anyway?

start up first thing cold....about 70 to 80 psi

after it warms up...you can expect about 10 psi per 1000 rpms. I idle at 900 and have about 12 psi pressure.

check as shoteen mentioned the timing belt as the tensioner might be the cause IF you have an ATX
