I did a search but could not find my questions answer.

I ordered my bearings and gaskets from RCM.

What / how do you use to clean/degrease the crank journals?

Also, I was planning on using some assmebly **** on the bearings. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Bob, did you spin one, or just preventative?

I use moly/graphite assembly ****, avail. at Autozone, etc. (look in the loctite aisle typically).

R & R Rod Bearings

There are plenty of threads about this subject. Do not try to out trick yourself replacing these bearings or you will have problems.

Follow the threads on the correct procedure.

If the oil has been changed on a regular basis do not try to clean the crank journals the new rod bearings need that oil. The journal is already clean enough and you will just get it dirty if you do anything.

Use engine oil on the bearing surface, but do clean the rod cap.

Do not try to clean the rod beam surface. It is not worth it.

Fill the oil filter full of oil before you start the motor.

Hi Fred,

I just want to make sure I do not spin one by swapping them now. With almost 115K I do not want to press my luck.

Good luck with your move.
