Has anyone had a problem with their rear passenger and rear driver side power windows not working? About 6 months ago I noticed my passenger rear power window would not work at all (from drivers control panel or back seat door control). I reset my batt for someother reason and It hadn't happened since.
I just noticed a few days ago that neither of my rear window work. I can hear a noise when the button is pushed (not sure how to describe it) and there is a glimmer in the dome light when I do it (when car is not running) but no response from the window itself. I have no Idea what it could be. Previously when the problem occured, it would not work for a day or two, and then work.
My passenger rear door is also seeming to not close right. The car is getting a signal that the door is open so the dome light stays on. It eventuall shuts off but I am wondering now if I am having some type of electrical problem and the windows are a part of it all.

Let me know please if you have any suggestion.

This sounds like two seperate problems.

First, with the power windows. I think I remember a thread a long time ago where this was addressed. I think it had to do with the replacement of the relay to the power window motor. Maybe it was cleaning the switches; I can't quite remember, but that's all I can post at this time.

Second, with the dome light staying on. Does the light go out after a few minutes or is it more like a half an hour? If it takes a long time for the dome light to go out, then the solution is very easy. There is a switch in the latching mechanism that tells the car that the door is closed and shuts off the interior lamp. Because the switch is in the door it is prone to contamination by dirt. Take a can of WD40 and thoroughly douche out the door latch mechanism. Really really really soak it out good. Then open and close the door a few times and the lamp should go out as normal. This is a common problem, but more prone to occur in the front doors due to useage.

Hope it helps...

Hey Shontell,

When I first bought my 97, the rear windows didnt work. The dealer fixed the motor no problem. I wonder if a lot of people have the same problem and there is a need for a recall. People however never think of checking if other people have these problems because it is such a small fix and not engine related.

Ford won't issue a recall for power windows failing to operate or other such minor flaws in the car as they develop, unless it is safety related. They will issue a Technical Service Bulletin for them however, which Ford did in this case and countless others.
