This has only happened once, but I started the car, put it in gear and rolled out of my driveway, moderate throttle and I want to say coming out of 2nd gear there was a BANG feel. I can't even really describe it 100% cause it was so fast so random. No lights, no rough run.. I pulled over real quick, pulled back out and absolutely nothing after wards.

The trans shifts so smooth and firm at all times, I really could've never ever expected this to happen.

Is this a sign the PTU is going?

Hard to say for certain. Any propane or gear oil smell going on? If it was PTU I would say it would be reproducable at least in my case it was.

Sounds like a good time to so a trans drain and fill. Aswell as a PTU fluid change.

Both fluids were done 3k ago, car had 113k. Trans fluid was clean and ptu was def dark but it was still very strong viscosity wise.

I had some clunks and one bang after putting redline in my ptu. After research and looking at everything, I did another ptu fluid change with amsoil and it hasn't happened since. My shop put redline in when I asked for it to be changed. Then I went on amsoils website and put the ptu fluid that it said to run and that issue went away. Hasn't clunked or banged in a gear since.

What fluid did you put in?

When I had my 2011 I had somewhat similar happen twice, but mine happened both times when I gave it a slight amount of gas, coasted for a second or two and then tried to accelerate hard. It started to accelerate but then made a loud noise and then it was like I was in neutral. That happened when it was stock and just over 100K miles. I just never eased off the throttle and then romped on it immediately after that and it never happened again. Not sure if it was coincidence or what, but I drove 60K + miles after that no issues.

Boy does this kinda sound like what I did!

Thinking it was just a fluke
