I just now realized the fogs are missing. See this is why I posted this thread. It takes more than one view point to see the total picture. Says the last owner replaced the suspension and brakes.
There might be lights recessed in that new front pic. Can't tell if it's a lens back there or a bracket.

the white one looks good too. is it doable to get your eyes and hands on it? What's the ask? Maybe there's room to haggle

Searching around I found one in my state but it's an automatic. Are there any disadvantages to the automatics? Car look super clean with less than 100k but it was previously a Illinois car.

A well maintained car that has had the maintenance done could end up being less than what you would spend to bring a car to the same level. It depends on what maintenance the red car has had or will need. It also depends if you want a Gen II verses a Gen I. The white car looks really clean and has quite a bit of maintenance done as well as some upgrades. Does this car belong to someone on the forum?

I'm not sure about the white car. I live in Ms and the white car is in Tn. I found this green 93 atx in the north part of my state (about 3 hours away) it only has 63k on the clock asking $4800

93 was the first year of the ATX and had the weakest tranny. My first SHO was an early build 94 ATX and I had the tranny replaced at 88K a couple of years ago. The next four SHO's I bought were all MTX's. Finding the right car for the right price sometimes take a little while. I wouldn't necessarily let distance keep you from buying the right car. I've gone 1500 miles for one of my cars.

So 93 ATX is a no go? It looks super clean and my wife could actually drive it lol. If I were to get it what would be the hassle of having to replace or referbish a tranny or just drop in a manual?

It looks like a very clean car, actually pretty close to my first car (but my car wasn't as nice as those photos look) that had only 57K on it when I picked it up. Just keep in mind a tranny rebuild could be in the future depending on the previous owner and how they drove it. I met (Noslo) on this forum from the Portland area that has a 93 ATX with over 250K and is still on the original tranny. Depending if you want an MTX or ATX car, I've seen more low mileage ATX cars for sale than low mileage MTX cars.
My tranny rebuild and replacement was about 3500 since a new case was needed and I had a shift kit put in during the rebuild. The tranny failed when I was on the highway and blew a hole in the side of it.

Although I like the automatic cars, there is way less demand and they should be way less expensive. I think nearly $5000.00 is too much for an automatic car.
And I like them!
In the back of your mind, keep this idea, if you are planning on keeping a SHO....... there is a good chance during your ownership that you will need either a rebuild on the automatic tranny ($3000.00) or a new clutch ($900.00).
That would not stop me from getting an automatic; I would simply build it into the price. I would sooner buy an automatic car with a tranny on the way out for a cheaper price (say $1000.00) than pay $5000.00 and be possibly faced with the same outcome. In the first case, you have a first class car for $4000.00; while the second case, it will be $8000.00 eventually.

Here's my question....
Say I buy the ATX and it lasts but decide I would rather have a MTX. Is it possible to pull the auto tranny and drop in a manual from an MTX?

the 91 only had a 5-digit odometer, so I don't believe for a second that after 20+ years it only has 98k miles.

it does appear nice, but I would not consider spending $4k on one of these cars. there are plenty to be had for 1/3 of that money, and you have to assume that you need to spend $$ on maintenance on any of them that you buy.

yes, you can convert the atx to mtx - there is a thread or two here on the forum with details of what is involved.

You good at wrenching? Converting from auto to manual takes some work. I thought about it and reconsidered when looking for a good MTX years ago. Too much to deal with for me.

You will need a complete manual transmission car to attempt the swap, and the same year would be advisable. And it would still be a monumental task.

You could always get a Doug Lewis rebuild for the ATX :) Are you anywhere near GA, chase?
