I was wanting to pull the ATX tranny from my 93. Is it possible and how hard is it to pull the tranny from it with the engine still in. I dont really want to pull the engine, just the tranny. Can I pull it through the top without having to pull the engine?? I was thinking of through the top so I dont have to drop the subframe, and pull the entire wheel/axel on the drivers side.

Things removed so far:
Entire intake system
Valve Covers
random other things

It doesnt matter if I screw something up (have to cut wires, bend/break something) as the rest of the car means nothing to me. I just would like to know if someone has done it before and thoughts on the complexity of it.

TIA. :thumb:

I just replaced the ATX in my 93' by myself.

Raise car high enough where you have atleast 24" below tranny.

You will need to fabricate an engine support out of wood or pipe. A length to chain will be required.

Disconect all electrical plugs, speedometer cable, shift cable, throttle cables, tranny lines from rad., then remove intake tube with DIS, Maf hose to airbox, yipe, all SFC bolts, engine & tranny mounts, PS rack mounts. Get the subframe out of the way and remove bolts to tranny and drop it.

I am sure there are better write-ups that cover the process in more detail, but this should get you started.

This sounds like a pretty good way. I have always pulled it with the motor out the top or drop the hole subframe.
