Heres Greenbean. 2 coats of duplicolor gunmetal and 3 coats of their clear coating. Came out like glass and held up nicely while i had it. All i did was scuff them up with sand paper and make sure they were squeaky clean. Goodness i miss that car :(

Jason(yamahasho) has pictures on his cardomain site of his old white 92 with the gunmetal slicers he used to have on his 95.

I have been considering doing gunmetal on my winter slicers, but I can't decide if I like the look or not.

Well, Im just waitng for my slicers to dry up, I only need to add a coat of clearcoat to one of them and there done. For the most part I am very satisfied with it. I used dupont duplicolor and Clearcoat. Two of the slicers came out VERY good, The other two have iperfections on a Spoke or to, Wich is ok, Because when there fully dry Im going to get really fine grit sand paper , sand it out, mask off the rest of the wheel and re-apply. I should have them mounted on tommorow. Thanks for all the help guys. :hail:

One thing i should mention to ya Sam is that when i used teh duplicolor wheel coating(what i assume you used) It takes up to 7 days to properly cure. Mine went 2 days sitting in the garage and i could still dig my fingernail into them. I called duplicolor and that what they told me. Course i put alot of clear on which probably didnt help much. On any note, ya gotta post some pics now

And here is my major messup, as a Result of touching the paint on accident, then trying to take some off, and re-apply it....

Here is as a result, of using to rough of a grit sand-paper:

All in all I am happy, My first time really doing anything like this. And granted the wheels were free, the paint was cheap, Im satisfied. Just cant wait for it to dry So I can fix some of the imperfections.

Weights

Has anyone balanced their Italian slicers on the inside of the wheel? Are they close enough to do it without having weights on the outside? I'm not up on balancing techniques, but would like to interior balance mine after painting them.

Thanx!

Definitly. But they look pretty good. I see gouges. You should of used finer paper. :thumb:

Yea, I have NO idea why I didnt. But I figure, The wheels were free, I basically didnt know what I was doing for the most part, and I spend 20 bucks All together in materials. A great learning experience it was! So Im pretty happy with them, The gouges Im not worried about, the other imperfections, will be sanded down with a really fine grit paper, Rest of the wheel masked off, and paint re-applied :thumb:

I had my last 2 sets of tires balanced on the inside, they were fine  also you can get stick on weights, you just have to ask for them.

No, that side was untouched. The passenger side front was the one that had some curb rash[have that one, too] while the rear one was trashed badly. Anyways, that's why I said you could hang them in your garage! I, too, have plenty of slicers sitting in the garage, 10 usable and 1 bad.

The proper way of balancing them without weights on the outside is by a hammer-on weight on the innerside and a stick on weight on the back side of the spoke. It gives it a better balance that way.

You can take the weights off with the tires still on, and you can even paint with the tires on, you'll just need to mask the tire. Just sand the rash down so until it's not that noticable, and then paint. The paint will cover minor imperfections.
