Hi guys, I just got my hands on some Italian slicers, There Silver. Im looking to paint them black. I really dont feel the need to sand them down, or pay a couple hundred bucks to have them done for me. So I was curious, Is it possible to just put a coat of primer over the the current paint, Then get a black enamel and spray it over the primer? I really dont know. In any help appreciated.

Just rough up the factory paint with some really fine sandpaper. I usually use start with 320-400 grit. Prime, light sand the primer, and ready for finish.

you dont even need to primmer them...
but, some will say you should...
I would highly recommend Du-ponts (sp) hi performance wheel coating. along with their clear coat..
2 cans of the black, and either 1 or 2 of clear depending onhow shiny you want them...

im not sure on the name, but i think thats what it is called...
that is what i did mine with. very durable stuff!!! they have black, gunmetal, silver, bronze and titanium.
i am going to paint my spare set of slicers bronze.... just fyi..

This is my old 94 mtx. I used duplicolor gunmetal. 1 can of gunmetal, 1 can of clear. Came out awsome for less than 15 dollars. Man I miss that car.

The only thing that sucks is taking the centercaps off. Even if you use a rag its very hard to prevent it from chipping

Now was this a rattlecan you guys used? A spray gun is out of the question really. Plus, anyone got any pics of a white gen 2 with black slicers? and mr. cash, when you say light sand the primer, do you mean with a Real fine grit sandpaper? Those wheels look great btw. Thanks!

Yea after I prime I use 600 grit just to break the rough surface of the primer.

Sweet, I'll have to pick up some supplies tonight, Duplicolor Gunmetal, a clear coat, and Sand paper. Would Autozone, Pep boys , etc carry this? The paint that is, and will one can really last all 4 wheels? Im guessing that depends how many coats you put on it, How many did you use on your Red car? Thanks guys!

The key to good painting is "surface preparation" i.e. clean & dry. Temperature difference between paint & surface is not critical but does matter. I place the can{s} in hot water for 5 min to heat them, shake them real well and spray when the painting area temp is 60 or better.
