Hey, I know the P0016 code relates to a streched chain most of the time and its likely the issues but.. I went through the F150 TSB and mapped the VCT_INT_ACT1 PID on FORscan and am getting 1.9 degrees which is below the limit of 6 degrees for timing chain replacement. Car is 2014 and has 78000miles on it. The P0016 codes stays out for about a month before coming back after clearing it. I decided to map the two intake timings (in degrees) for each bank vs desired position on my dash mounted SCT Livewire. The bank one is about 1.5 degrees above desired then the other bank, at idle, which i dont think is too crazy. But one moring on cold start, was about 40 degrees F out, the timing on both banks shot right up and stayed while I was driving (see picture) was getting 10.8 on bank one and 6.6 degrees on bank 2 at idle. I cycled the ignition and everythign went back to normal. Would this still be considered a timing chain stretch or am I looking at another issues, such as a bad solenoid? Thanks

Curious to hear answers also. I get a code if I do a cold start up and idle (like a remote start). However, if I start the vehicle and bring it up to about 1k rpm until I pull away or start driving right away, I never get the code. Hot starts won't trip the code either. I would think a hot chain would be stretched more.

Most likely the timing chain; it happens to everyone here. You got a bit more miles on it before it happened, but it's time. Chain and water pump, it won't be cheap but it's required. I had mine done around 65k miles, was about $3k at my local Ford dealer.

I know this thread is old but did you end up resolving this? I'm having a nearly identical issue and I want to make sure its the timing chain before I drop the money on that job
