I’m not sure if I f-ed mine up that I did myself but the car does run great just has a weird noise at 2k rpm’s. I posted it on my YouTube channel and I pray it’s not bottom end damage. Going to be pulling an oil sample to be sure.Update: took it to a trusted mechanic. Car is ready for pickup. Timing chain had enough slack to lift it off the guide with a finger. Had them replace the sensor too since I had it lying around although it prob wasn’t needed. Safe to say if you have P0016 it’s almost certainly timing chain. Ran me about 2500, but honestly that’s fine with me since I most certainly would’ve f’d something up if I tried to do it myself.
common issues - check the filter and see if its clogged, my signature has the newer NO filter part to replace the old one which causes that problem. So I figured it out, my forgetful brain forgot to plug in the block temp sensor, and the front downstream 02 sensor. Now she runs smooth as silk and the temp goes up to half and stays there. No more bubbles no milkshake just bright greenish yellow coolant. Also found why my heated seats stopped working. Going to order the new pigtail connector on payday.
Could u share the factory repair manual? This is exactly what was happening with my SHO. I have a bunch of threads on my profile related to it but I’m convinced it’s timing chains. The going away and coming back puzzles me as well but it’s not a good idea to keep driving on a P0016. I’m doing my own timing job and have a link to a ford repair manual if you would like it you can PM me on here and I’ll drop the link. Also, go OEM for the components. I’ve read and heard many horror stories of aftermarket cheap guides failing, phasers failing etc. so far I’ve dropped $1200 ish on parts. Way better for me at 23 with not a lot of savings and credit.
