I’ve always been drawn to these cars since I was in high school just because of how they were not that well known a few years ago as being powerful, comfortable and great looking because a lot of people didn’t know what these cars are capable of even in their stock form so I traded reliability for a little bit of fun (and a lot of headaches) and I get some wrenching experience along the way, and I have learned a lot about turbocharge platforms in the process. I like the car a lot just hope it doesn’t keep eating holes in my pockets in the next 20-30k miles before I decide to sell it in the next couple years.
No holes, just need deep pockets...

What does everyone think about valvoline vs royal purple for when I do a ptu flush in a couple days? Also I see the valvoline “flex fill” bags and the valvoline advanced in the bottle for the same price? Whats the difference? I had black crap on my drain plug when I attempted to change it after I did the turbo replacement but since I knocked the vent tube off it puked a lot of what I had added out. And also should I add a bit of Mercon LV to aid with getting all the crap off the walls and gears when drain it again after a couple hundred miles? Or will the detergent of the trans fluid hurt the bearings and I just buy redline instead? I have a non PP SHO so I can either do all the work through the fill plug or use the new vent to fill it.

I had royal purple in it since last April when I did all the fluids and plugs after I bought the car. I’m also thinking of doing the RDU but it did get a fluid change at 105,000 before I got it. It’s just hit 139k.

The video posted above is really good and there are 3 parts to it. The guy leaves all the drama to the morons and sticks to the repair. He has made many videos and all of them are top notch!

I have downloaded and saved all 3 parts for future use!
Thanks much for posting that link.

Yes he is a Ford expert for sure. I assumed he worked at a dealer but was not sure.

Changed the fluid last night. Only got a few oz of light gray fluid out but no metal shavings or chunks and the fluid was still slippery so I think I’m good to go. Refilled it with the suction gun until it spilled out the fill plug and made sure the plug magnet was cleaned off. Also after cleaning up the ptu from the failed vent puking it looks very nice no leaks visible anywhere but only time will tell if it is leaking. I hope the new vent solves the puking fluid issue as well.
